As far as I know there are faults all through the NY to Boston area. Also in upper NY state Buffalo, Rochester, Batavia etc. Problem is that populations and economies got developed before the risk was established.

As per the Tsunami it all depends on what is going on offshore. There was one on the Avalon peninsula of Newfoundland in 1929. An area you would not associate with earthquakes.
