But if Austalia had an open-door immigration policy, Asians could swamp you easily, couldn't they? There are so many of them and they're so nearby. I've read that that was a very important factor in Australian politics in the 19th Century.

Its not just the illegals, its the legals that are out of control too.

I wonder how many people realize we take ~ 2 million LEGALS every SINGLE YEAR, year after year, decade after decade.

There is simply no rational reason for it anymore. Yet, its not even an issue. Its less of an issue today than it was in 1994 when Democratic Congresswoman Barbara Jordan called for a mass reduction in legal immigration or when President Nixon's immigration commission released a bi-partisan report in the early 70s that concluded that "no more positive benefit" would accrue to the country from more immigration or population growth.

Why is it no longer even an issue when we are more overcrowded than ever??? Something doesn't add up about the whole thing.
