Well. it looks like we will be losing Levon at any time now. One of my fondest memories was attending the Last Waltz show at Winterland in SF in Nov. of 76.
The Band's timeless music was often anchored by Levon's distinctive vocals, as well as his work behind the drum kit.

Rick Danko and Richard Manual predeceased him, but when they were all together a palpable magic occured on stage when the band played.

My prayers and thoughts go out to this simple genius.

Rest well Virgil Caine

"Virgil Caine" from Wikipedia:

Confederate soldier Virgil Caine "served on the Danville train" (the Richmond and Danville Railroad, a main supply line into the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia from Danville, Virginia, and by connection, the rest of the South).

Union cavalry regularly tore up Confederate rail lines to prevent the movement of men and material to the front where Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia was besieged at Siege of Petersburg.

As part of the offensive campaign, Union Army General George Stoneman's forces tore up the track again.

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"

RIP to an iconic American voice. They have a place in the choir ready for you.

Don't Do It

If you're not familiar with Ollabelle, daughter Amy Helm's band, check her out. She definitely has some of her father's magic.

His voice was perfection. He did a cover of "You got to move on" on the Imus ranch album. Can't imagine the original being as good.

He was scheduled to do a gig in March with Los Lobos but it was cancelled because of a "slipped disc".
