What is the most interesting cultural attraction in your country?
 
I'm not aware we have any.

I'm trying to think of the World Famous <insert culture thing here> and draw blanks. That's probably better done through the eyes of a foreigner.

For visitors to the United States, I believe that it is American Indians.

They have hundreds of Gambling Casinos.

They only thing that I don't understand is, when I drive through the American Indian reservations, everyone appears to be living in poverty.

Exactly why is that?

Because you don't, as an individual, get a cut of the casino- it's a government stipend, and even that's not all that much. But it does go to good use. In Cherokee, NC, on the boundary, it went to the language project, where we pretty much saved the Cherokee language, and a lot of educational programs. They paid for me to go to school (which I dropped out of) and bought me a laptop (which my mom sold for drug money) and you get half-assed medical insurance that basically tells any hospital that you can't be turned away. It's not real insurance, it just says that they have to see you even if you can't pay. There are a lot of other benifits to, I tend not to dabble in politics anymore, but it's not like everyone gets a cut of Harrison's winnings or something like that. The vast majority of that money stays in the casino. And the small cut that the tribe gets is divided up into government programs.

As to why the poverty rate is so high on the boundary (and the res, from what I've read) there are so many reasons... The one that pisses me off the most being the high rate of substance abuse. Addictive personality disorder is hereditary, and it creates this poverty cycle that it is really hard to get out of.

Yes it is typical, it's just bigger. All of our cities are very international. Chicago, LA, San Franciso, Miami. Our entire country is international, it's what we are.

I mean places where people live in isolation from the rest of the world.

Those places are populated by dirt poor Indians and uber-rich ranchers. Otherwise they are no different than any other state.

You know, racial bigotry is offensive no matter the race or whether it's in jest or not. Even people with mental issues and sandpaper personalities should be called on it. I'm calling it. It's ugly.

Native American's have a genetic predisposition to alcohol addiction and they have been oppressed and continue to be oppressed throughout our history. I don't think it's a basis for humor.
