What are the logical and physical activities within the database?

I actually could go on about this for quite some time...
 
Of course, they'd have to say what database...Oracle and SQLServer are very different.
(and, of course, the whole NoSQL and Big Table stuff...)
 
And for me the difference between brands.

Avaya and Cisco do amazingly different things.

Not to mention how hard I need to work with Corning Databases.

I don't have a whole lot of respect for these things. Non-Relational databases are unimpressive hacks and I don't think I could sleep at night with the level of inconsistency they deal with.
Then again., I don't work with 'carts'. My data matters

Not really the point.
The point is that Amazon has the luxury of saying "Hey, I'll let you put that in your cart even if I don't know for sure that we still have it in stock. I'll email you in 15 minutes if we don't."
Thats so completely unacceptable in my world I can't even begin to describe it.
More, I still don't see how anyone can do any real querying or reporting on attribute-value pair tables and I'm, say, 90% certain that they exist because people are too lazy and/or cheap to hire someone to design their database.
