Actually, the name of this thread is "Board Games and the Elderly", but I thought that most people would ignore it just like they do when they see an old woman at the grocery store.
Anyway, here are the top 10 board games:
1. Monopoly
2. Risk
3. Mah Jongg
4. Scrabble
5. Beyblades
6. Backgammon
7. Battleship
8. Stratego
9. Checkers
10. Chess
I expected to see the game "Upwards" in this list. I don't know exactly what the game consists of, but I am pretty sure that it is a "Board" game.
My mother is 88 years old and plays a few games of Solitaire almost everyday.
On the weekends two of my sisters visit her and they play Scrabble or Upwards.
My mother might be old, but she sure is good with numbers and spelling.
While most elderly people watch mindless sensational television programming while eating their potato chips and cheese puffs, my mother watches the evening news and plays solitaire while dinner is cooking.
One of my adult sisters lives with her, so Mom cooks something like a beef roast with carrots, onions and potatoes a couple of times a week. The other days the eat what is left over.
The elderly people that watch television all day long and eat junk food die younger then their counterparts that eat right and use board games to stimulate their minds.
That is my opinion, what is yours?
