Actually, the name of this thread is "Board Games and the Elderly", but I thought that most people would ignore it just like they do when they see an old woman at the grocery store.

Anyway, here are the top 10 board games:

1. Monopoly
2. Risk
3. Mah Jongg
4. Scrabble
5. Beyblades
6. Backgammon
7. Battleship
8. Stratego
9. Checkers
10. Chess

I expected to see the game "Upwards" in this list. I don't know exactly what the game consists of, but I am pretty sure that it is a "Board" game.

My mother is 88 years old and plays a few games of Solitaire almost everyday.

On the weekends two of my sisters visit her and they play Scrabble or Upwards.

My mother might be old, but she sure is good with numbers and spelling.

While most elderly people watch mindless sensational television programming while eating their potato chips and cheese puffs, my mother watches the evening news and plays solitaire while dinner is cooking.

One of my adult sisters lives with her, so Mom cooks something like a beef roast with carrots, onions and potatoes a couple of times a week. The other days the eat what is left over.

The elderly people that watch television all day long and eat junk food die younger then their counterparts that eat right and use board games to stimulate their minds.

That is my opinion, what is yours?

How old was she when she had you?

I love board games! There is something to be learned from them too; the strategy works your mind.

Some videogames do the same, but board games give you somethig more tangible to hold and move that works your fine motor skills in different ways...

Still, I bet a couple rounds of SimCity would do our politicians good! lol.

(What?! WHY CAN'T I BUILD A MONUMENT JUST BECAUSE I SPENT ALL OF MY MONEY?!)

I do the same thing, but it comes in a can.

I purchase it at the Dollar Store.

Does that count?

Answer my question, asshole.

How old was she when she had you?

Mommy, there is a bad man stalking me!

"Honey, don't worry. I am on the phone with this forum's moderators as we speak. Stay inside the house and don't go outside to play with your friends. That person was warned to stay away from us. We are going to this forum's County Sheriff's Office tomorrow and get a restraining order against him."

It's "Upwords" by the way, OP.

Per that list I like Monopoly and Scrabble.

Mommy, Nipples Mcgee just parked his car outside in front of our house. What do we do now?

"Honey, I have my AR-15 rifle pointed at him! Get the empty clips and reload them!"

Okay Mommy!

Blam, blam, blam!

Mommy, you just hit him in the leg. Shoot again!

"I can't because I am out of ammo!"

[Daughter tosses reloaded clip to her mother]

Blam, blam, blam!

Mommy, I think you got him this time! Hi five!

That list is bullshit. Risk in second? No way. No mention of Life, Sorry, Clue, Parcheesi, Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, Trivial Pursuit or Trouble.

Apples to Apples is cool but I'm not sure it is considered a board game.

I have a hard time buying Beyblades is on the list, particularly if it's supposed to be top games amongst the elderly.

For those of you who don't know what Beyblades is basically two people get tops, deck em out with shit to adjust their weight and spin em at each each other. If that counts as a board game so does fucking Twister.
