How can something that did not exist be damned? Christianity did not even exsist until around the 2nd or 3rd century. Before that Followers of christ considered themselves Jews and made converts go through Jewish Customs like circumcision. This practice began to wan when St. Paul wrote "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." This was the begining of Seperation of Jews from Christianity.
Yes catholics are not as knowledgeable in scriptures as other Christian faiths are this is true. But Chech your facts. At mass there are 3 readings One from the OT One from the NT and the Gospel and we acclaim teh Pslams as well. So 2 verses in incorrect. Any catholic who attends Mass on a daily basis will hear the entire bible in 3 years.
Sermons or what we call Homilies are what the priest uses to tie in the bible readings to modern life.
As for our Mass Many protetant ministers lament they don't have the tradition and ritual the Catholics do, while catholic priests lament they don't have the freedom to preach like protestant ministers. Gress is greener I guess.
Name any organization of more than 2 people that does not put out propaganda and try to brainwash people. Political parties,, religions, schools, frats, etc. Every Job I have had in the last 15 years has had me watch a video about the company that showed what great things the company was doing.
No where in catholic teaching does it say what happens to infants who die unbaptized/ This is simply untrue.
Just like every society has rights of passage. Getting a Drivers License, Getting to vote, Legally Drinking, going to HS, Going to College all at preordained ages. Nothing here that any other culture doesn't have.
Again incorrect. A priest who is almost always single (Though their are married priests in the US) Interviews the couple and then recomends a Licensed family counselor to meet with them and cunsels the couple as long as the counselor feels it is necessary for that couple. Many states like aFL also require this and you get a discount on your marriage license if you complete the counseling.
God does forgive you the priest acts as an inermediary between you and God.
Do you remember the bible story of water and wine? Mary wet to Jesus and asked him to do something he refused and she nagged him until he gave in. If it worked once, why not again?

Why do we need an intermediary between us and God? Are we so low and unworthy to talk to him ourselves? NOT!!! That's why religion is organized and the masses are herded in and sheepled into being good believers and pay their tithes. Twice on Sunday.
