Fact is that situations like this are somewhat "natural". I think that if you go back in Western culture even to the Middle Ages this sort of thing would be present though not observed or recorded.

I notice that each baby was delivered by C-section. Imagine what would happen if that option were not available. A good reason for having civilization IMHO.

Not the sort of thin I like to dwell on really though it's not all that far in the past for industrialized nations but still going in the Third World.

If you can find a graveyard going back into the 1800's you will soon see what a big problem infant mortality was. Still with us today though to a much lesser extent.

True but it happens and has happened. As far as I can see even a 12 yr. old generally does not look very womanly but more like a thin, stick girl frame with some suggestion of womanliness. Certainly not something you would find attractive given other choices that should be available.

Thing is that there is a minority of males who are peadophilic apparently by choice. I don't think society in general (Canada) has a very good grip on this issue. When I see the sentences handed out for stuff like Child porn and Human trafficking I cringe at how light they are as does most of the Public, I think. Hopefully the present Conservative government will take a shot at this as no one else has to this point.

5 y/o, no way that's just fucked up...but 10-12 years old I would agree. But you are talking about an era when the vast majority of the people were lucky if they made it to 40 years old. They HAD to start having kids pretty much as soon as they could start cranking them out for a number of reasons we don't face today. Hell even 14-16 wasn't an uncommon marriage age up until late 1800's/early 1900's.

C sections been around for a LONG time bronado...like ancient Greece long time. We have gotten better at them because back then it usually killed the mother but cutting babies out as a last ditch effort has been around for thousands of years.

Maybe in Canada 12 year olds aren't pubescant, but here in the land of factory farming, you're practically your adult body by the time you're 12. Most chicks start their periods around the age of 10 (which has been steadily dropping since we started keeping tabs on such things, it was 16, then 14, then 12, etc.) Historically, a lot of chicks were married by the time they were 14- not 5. A 5-year-old having a baby would have been news at any point in history. I don't know how every culture does it, but here, you didn't get married until you were preggers, because you wanted a man who could give you kids, apparently, that was a thing that has survived in the Appalachian subconcious, because if you look at the stats, you'll see that even today that's the case.
