As a genteel American, why should I support England?

I can't think of any particular reason I (or the US for that matter) should support it in all matters unequivocally, such as its occupation of Northern Ireland for example. As a generally politically right leaning non-British American I'm never quite clear why I'm supposed to be so emotionally and politically enamored of a state so hell bent on cultural self-destruction...

There has been a disturbing trend. Brits, apart from Sean Connery, used to be routinely cast as villains by Americans. But nowadays our luvvies get to pretend to be Americans. From Kate Winslet to Dominic West, from vamps to vampires we're insinuating ourselves into your every vein and sinew. How long can this sinister (or indeed dextrous) Britishisation continue?
