The greatest part of your $109 went to pay for your prorated warranty. An identical battery is probably available for around $70, sans the 5 year warranty.

I bought one this weekend as well. 129 + a 15 core. I thought the mother fucker was crazy so I stood at the counter for 4 minutes while I searched on my phone for one cheaper. Yep 129....fuckers!

Costco or Walmart are best bets for a new battery. Just replaced the one in our SUV for somewhere in the $75 range, then got $9 back for the old core from Costco. They won't change out batteries for you, ya gotta do it yourself.
Replaced the dual batteries in my diesel a couple of years ago... seems like they were just over $100 each, installed.

The V8 Windsor has very high compression, and winter here is brutal on batteries, so we have to go deep-cycle.
Last battery cost AU$310.
Figured out that in winter we can extend the battery life by plugging in and having a trickle-charge going on those supercold nights, so this battery has lasted 3 years so far.
Standard batteries for the other cars are avg AU$155.

That is a good point. After using great restraint in not yelling at the person who voiced this disappointing news (never shoot the messenger), I calmed down enough to bargain with them to sell me one for $75.

Of course, I realize that is a basement bargain. A one year warranty on a battery I suspect could last 3 or more years is not so bad these days.

$109 dollars sounds awfully steep for a car battery. I haven't shopped for auto parts in ages, but I don't recall them ever being that expensive.

Anyway, if you're going to pay that much for a battery, get an interstate. They last forever.

Thank you. However, I was a big fan of those in the late 80s to mid 90s. In my experience, they were over priced and never lived up to the hype or expectations. The customer service was excellent though.

Battery for the combine last fall- $189 each at John Deere. It takes two. Same group, more cranking amps, greater amp/hour rating Interstate @ filling station $149. Guess what's cranking the combine now?

Johnny, just be glad you don't have a fleet of vehicles & equipment to buy batteries for.

Yeah. Thanks. I have done those type batteries before. My boss supplies the ones for the vehicles at the job. It just floored me that the battery cost for my truck had escalated so much in 4 years.
