Today's little peek into the world of a library lady:

I bought an assortment of puppy dog ears on headbands which the first graders and I have all enjoyed wearing while I read The Puppy Sister. After we're finished with that afternoon's chapter, I collect all the ears, spread them out on the table and spray them thoroughly with Lysol spray.

Today a little girl asked me, "Why do you do that?"

"Just in case any of you have fleas," I answered.

"That's probably a good thing," she said.

"Oh?"

"Yeah. I got treated for head lice over the weekend."

*shudders* They're cute, but little kids can be quite disgusting at times... That made my scalp crawl...

Can Lysol Spray kill lice? I know they're pretty tough. It probably can kill fleas.

Lucky you

I'm doubltful that Lysol will work. One suggestion is to put the headbands into a garbage bag with cedar shavings for a few days.

Best of luck

I despise children.

Especially babies. Take away all of the maternal instincts, and all they are are loud little balls of dough that leak and stink and suck away your money and time and energy like little shit-singularities.

I'll saturate them good again tomorrow morning and put them in a hot dryer for a couple of cycles before we wear them again.

If you can boil the headbands in water, that will kill anything, lice, fleas, nits and eggs. It's a lot safer than gasoline and doesn't smell as bad.

No, you soak half the headband in gasoline and then light it. Stab the buggers with an icepick when the run to the other side.

No, no, no! You're thinking of tsetse flies, not lice. Those are the ones you have to take the ice pick to, though an ax is better.

No. Youre talking about the faggot maggot, PILOT. When he flees the fire whack him with the axe.

And eventually they smile and the world looks good again.
It's even more fun when they are parents themselves. You can smile as you give the little one back as if to day "Your turn !"

A local lady who looks after children often has to deal with head lice. She swaers by Licenex. It's a shampoo that kills lice and nits on contact. It can also be used in the wash.

Heat or suffocation

Lysol is just a waste of time. Either run them through a dryer or tie them up in a plastic bag for a few days. Thankfully, lice have evolved to live only on us, so separate them from us for a short period of time, and they are goners.

My! You are all so helpful!

The headbands are safely tucked away into a plastic bag where they'll remain for a couple more days.
