in mother fucking march.

this is really weird. i don't think i've ever used it before maybe the very end of april, but generally the window unit isn't needed until mid-may. i think god is mad about something. i live in fear of summer.

It's never this warm in the mountains in March. We've opened all doors and windows, and we're cooking dinner on the fire pit and eating at the picnic table. It's bizarre to be having a cookout this time of year, but nice.

I have four air conditioners and they stay on the roof, all year round.

I would hate to have to take them inside because they're heavy motherfuckers.

They've all run a few days a week since January.

4? Just how big is your house?? I am just under 3500sf, it hits 120 in the summer and I only have 2.......

word.

this house was probably built about the time of the spanish-american war. there is zero ventilation upstairs and it isn't really built to allow it, so window ac units and space heaters are pretty much just how it has to be.
In order to get proper ventilation in the top floors of the old houses you need to do major renovation. You're right that they were not built to allow for much so they get stifling. The rooms need to be opened up and in most old houses that's easier said than done because they were also built to stay the way they are. Nobody thought of renovation then. It's a relatively new concept.

We live in an old farm house. This place was once a two-room cabin. It actually served as a toll house for horse and wagon traffic. The cabin was added to over the years and now has 5 bedrooms. It's cold and drafty in the winter and absolutely stifling in the summer. The wiring is so old that we have to use a wood stove for heat (I tried a space heater in my office this winter...it started to smoke after 2 minutes) and box fans in the summer. I'm with pointless...if this is the kind of heat wave we're going to experience before April, I can't imagine how bad it's going to be here in mid-July.

At least you all aren't dealing with snow and cold...

We just got 27 inches of snow two days ago. And it's snowing heavily right now.

I need to sweat a few winter pounds off anyway.
I put them on even though there wasn't a winter this year.
