As I understand, he is or was addicted to some kind of prescription pain medication. He was found with some physicians' samples or some such thing in his luggage one time. If it weren't for his prominence, the incident wouldn't be worth mentioning.

I have no affection for the man, but let's keep things in perspective here.

As for your link. I agree that there is a world of difference between martial arts training and street violence.

I have known many very proficient fighters in the ring to get their asses handed to them in a bar fight.

In the street your opponent does not bow to you, nor do they "behave" the way you think an opponent should. There is also no ref around to get between you when they start beating on you.

I was raised fighting in the streets and have no such issue. I'm not quite as ring proficient as some of the guys I spar with, but have never lost a bar fight.

Out in the street I forget all about my "formal" training. I use my speed to to avoid them and react accordingly, I generally never use kicks in a street fight because being a smaller guy I can;t afford to take the chance of having my legs taken out from under me and getting pinned to the ground.

I pretty much dance around, let them miss then hit them two or three times, short sharp blows, nothing to send myself off balance. This goes on until they quit, fall down, or someone finally breaks it up.

Sorry James Rory has nothing I don't know.

And for real street rats, getting sucker punched is pretty damn rare. I've lead a pretty quiet life for a long time now and still never let anyone walk around or behind me.

I teach martial arts as a volunteer and half of what I teach is street awareness as well as a variety of low blows and dirty tricks. I also teach no mercy, if you have to gouge some one's eye out to end a fight do it, because if you back off you're gone.

You have your points here, but I'm not the person to prove it too. Been there done that, and could teach Rory's lessons all day long

I was listening to Rush since back in the days of Bush Sr., when Limbaugh was a refreshing conservative voice crying in the wilderness. But once he started feeling his political clout and Clinton took the White House, he veered way over to the politics of hatred and became a regular demagogue, thriving on the anger and resentment he stirred up. Kind of like JBJ, but with a microphone. And an audience that took him seriously.

More than any other figure in the last 20 years, Limbaugh's been responsible for the hatred and extremism that now paralyzes the American political system. He makes or breaks political careers, and there's not a soul in the Republican party that dares speak out against him. He has more power than the president, and because his show is 'opinion,' he has absolutely no accountability or responsibility to get his facts straight. And so he lies. He's a propagandist of the first order.

The man doesn't even know how contraception works. He apparently thinks it's like Viagra, and that the more sex you have, the more contraception you need. He's bragged about his anti-feminism from the first, but now his true misogynistic roots are showing.

No, what you refuse to understand is that when someone like yourself sees an insult in everything that everyone says it points you out as the hate filled irrational bitter human being that you are.

If you are truly happy and content with your life choice than there should be no issue with you needing to defend your "stance" where there is no need to defend it.

You want to be treated equal? That's your problem right? Gays and Lesbians should be treated one hundred percent equal?

What do you mean by that? Hate would be too strong a word, but I certainly dislike the man in question. As for his addiction, this is to a prescription medicine, not recreational drugs, and that kind of thing can happen to anybody.

I would take issue with his way of speaking of the student from Georgetown, but he has a certain point, even if he apparently has no idea how The Pill works.
