I just got my tuition bill, one class is now almost $3000:look::eek:.

I am not looking for sympathy, I work full time and can pay as I go. Also, I only have five classes left to finish my grad degree. But I am thinking of the multitudes of undergrads who need 120 hours or more credits to just get their first college degree.

Schools have been jacking up tuition times squared for many years, counting on students to get ever increasing loans to attend. And these loans are scary; you can't go bankrupt to get rid of them, and if you can't pay, the interest mounts up. A student would be better off getting a loan from the Godfather.

I must say, these Uni's are clever toads. They employ six figure professors, masquerading as social do-gooders (like Bill Ayers), to convince students with huge tuition debts and grim prospects for a career that it's the Wall Street bankers that are to blame for their plight. I don't know if any Occupiers have picked up on this yet, let's hope so. Uni is one big swindle that has stayed out of site.

Here is a regular segment on the Huffington Puffington Post that tells the story.

There is a lot of bad decision making on display on that site.

The rate increases are covering the loss of taxes from corporate loopholes. Close up the loopholes & the rates drop.

Maybe they do. If enough people are making enough money they won't drop the rates just because they have other sources of revenue.

I've seen some doozies in my life but this one just might take the cake.

What in fuck are you talking about ?

Tax revenue is down, corporate loop holes are up.

Corporations don't pay taxes— in case you haven't you heard or learned that fact.

Corporations are simply conduits; their tax bills are passed straight through to consumers. Taxes are a simply one more cost of doing business.

GiaCat is right. The education racket is one of the last great remaining businesses.

They've become expert at fleecing their customers.

When did I say corporations pay taxes?

It's become a giant ripoff.

I keep track because I want to know what the fuckers are charging these days. It's mind-boggling. No wonder people lie, cheat and steal; they think they have to in order to pay the damn tuitions to send their kids to schools where the kids are taught not to lie, cheat and steal.

Bunch of people on that site bitching about something they chose to do knowing full well that they had to pay back the money. Why in the world is anyone supposed to feel sorry for them? If you take out a loan you are expected to pay it back. Period. Nothing was hidden from these people. Fuck them.

Loans are the student's devil. Many not only pay for tuition and books with loans, but also finance housing, booze, cool phones, and more booze.

People should be responsible for what they sign for. The system in not without fault. Setting these kids up for a lifetime of debt is dirty.

Education should benefit society. It is not cheap, but without it we are a nation of landscapers.

Maybe you should just link the source that (now-)useless chart came from.

ETA: Ah, made slightly less useless by my stripping out your oversized text formatting.

On that link there are people bitching about being 30K or so in debt for student loans. That's a new car. They're pissing and moaning because they have to pay off a loan for their education that amounts to what someone pays every day for a fucking car. I have zero sympathy for people like that. They just want someone to come in and make the bad loan people say they don't have to pay it back.
Another couple of them are fairly high in debt but are art majors. Seriously. Come the fuck on. What are you doing to do with that? It's no wonder they can't pay back the loans, they're art majors.

There are people who buy cars every day?
