32,000-Year-Old Plant Brought Back to Life- Oldest Yet

I just read this article today and thought I would share. It's kind of amazing, isn't it? My imagination is running wild with unrealistic and I'm sure impractical "possibilities". I don't have a background in biology or botany, or any of field relevant to this article, really, but I am curious to hear from someone who does.

From such tiny seeds, amazing little things preserved in ice no less...

Very cool!

Perhaps, but it's pretty crabgrass. :)
Whoa! Is that true about cockroaches? 300 million years?! *Mind: Blown*

Triffids.
That's my warning about fucking with things that should stay dead.

looking around for ominous sounding music or maybe a glassful of water to start rippling.

The common name for Silenes is "catchflies". Some of them, along with plants in the closely related genus Lychnis are known as "campions".

Thank you, Blase. :)
I wonder if "catchflies" actually catch flies, like the Venus flytrap?

A few sources note that catchflies produce sticky secretions on their stems that can in fact cause small insects to become stuck to them (so do some other plants, like the common petunia), but these are not carnivorous plants: They're not equipped to digest insects as Venus flytraps, pitcher plants and sundews are.

Carnivorous plant sounds oxymoronic, doesn't it? Very interesting, Blase. Thank you for teaching me something new today! :)
