How long do approval usually take?

I submitted my story (Visit to Aunt April's House) about 2 days ago and haven't heard anything. I followed all the guidelines, so everything should be in order.

How long does approval usually take? Also, will they email me when it's approved or rejected for some reason?

There is no usually.
If you submitted it as a Word document expect around five to eight days, if you copied and pasted it expect three to five on average.

However there is no hearing back from them, they don't contact you it just shows up with the next update whenever that happens.

Is Menu required to spank off to each new submission? I would imagine that would be a little like being a groinocoligist. After a few hundred, you just don't want to see another.

Pics take longer. Its something about how it's formatted and blah blah blah. I hope you read the rules on your pics if you used actual photographs. The quickest way to find out is to take the two seconds out to check on your story's status.

If you are truly a newbie, welcome, and beware. Assuming you're not an alt looking for attention, you can ignore those bozos who already posted, and probably some who will post after me. "Troll" is a term you will come to know well here. Even if someone isn't usually a troll, or an alt, they can still be a complete ass. Some are here just for the fun of making fun of others. If you're thin skinned, try the playground, it's a little nicer there. If you enjoy politics, religion debates, and snarky humor, and can take an insult, the GB is for you.

Submissions can take anywhere from 2 to 5 days to be approved, in my experience. No, they don't email you. Just check your members page every day. If it hasn't been approved after 5 days, email Laurel.

In addition to what Angelica said I suggest you chase over to the playground or writer's corner. The General Board is basically Lit's answer to horrible horrible people. Instead of driving us off the board they left us this tiny patch of unmoderated space where we can endlessly make war with each other while all the civilized people live in other places.
