Check out the new purse I made

I really miss my stitch & bitch group.

I'm finding out though, now, trying to put stuff in it, that a knitted strap was a mistake- the stitches are to elastic- I'm gonna have to tie it or something because now it's hanging to my knees.

The innerds are all protected against static, so I can use it as a laptop bag.

Excuse the shitty camera- it's my phone. I don't have a good camera right now. :(

Yeah, what else do you do in a sewing circle?

It's also a book by Debbie Stroller- the one that I learned to knit from. She has one that I learned to crochet from to, entitled, "The Happy Hooker".

Drink tea? Raid the biscuit tin...

I can knit and sew, never really got into crochet.

God, a knitter learning to crochet is a pain in the ass. You know how we knit and purl- and that's it? You can do anything with those 2 stitches? Crochet has roughly a million of those. I hate it. I'd much rather have both my sticks and a joint.

You know, when I was a kid wool was quite cheap. It's not now.

I get sweaters from thrift stores, cut the seams out, and unravel the yarn into balls, because I am broke as shit. I only get the ugly ones that no one would wear. I consider that "recycling". I also go to clothing banks and get the sweaters that they were gonna throw out for being full of holes and whatnot. The yarn's usually still good, you just have to make sure you keep all the knots from tying the ends in the back. Purses are lined, but for some of the sweaters I've made it's a pain in the ass because they can itch if there's a lot of them. Usually, if there are no holes, you can get it to come off in one clean line, and frogging them is kinda fun. :D

Edit: I also have a hand spindle, and I'm lucky enough to have a lot of critters and a talent for it. I can make yarn out of cat hair and corn husks- and it's surprisingly soft. You can make yarn out of just about anything. I use dryer lint, to. I make plarn from grocery bags- people can get pretty creative when they're broke and bored.

recycling is as recycling does - you've just taken me back a good many years to being a kid and having to help my mum do the same thing. :) she used to pick stuff up from jumble sales and undo the seams, free the yarn and reknit it into whatever was needed.

cool design, btw. :)

May be a good way to earn some money, Candy. Making purses on the side. The ladies seem to like the one in the picture.

I used to crochet, but I wasn't all that good at it. I made a couple of pot holders and a couple of afghans. That's it. I don't have the patience for it.

That's because crocheting is some hard fucking shit. As long as you're just doing stockinette or garter or something, you can knit shitfaced drunk AND sing along to ElSuperBeasto. I made myself learn to crochet, for the crafting street cred, but I also suck at it. I just really want to learn that kewii arugamii shit- like, really bad. But I can get a hat and that's about as far as I go- anything that's a tube- but all my squares become- what's the fucktarded square? Trapazoids?

Lol! I'm picturing you shift faced drunk and singing while knitting. You crack me up.

I don't know if I even remember how to crochet, it's been years. My mother used to knit, but I never learned. I used to do needlepoint and crewell though.

I like your av.
Why thank you. I finally just discovered a free graphics editing program, so I was messing with a new AV last night. If anyone is interested, the program is called GIMP. You can download it from gimp.org
Hi, Dec. I've missed you like LT misses the point. :rose:
Don't make me laugh, it hurts. :(

I had no idea you could make stuff like this. I think it's endearing. Sorry you missed me, I keep logging on thinking I'll hang out for a bit, but then I feel too sick and end up back in bed. I tried taking my laptop to bed a couple times, but I just end up falling asleep as soon as I'm in the bed anyways. Feel sorry for me, goddamn it. /snifflecough

My little knitted man. He still needs chest hair, head hair, a face and some clothes.

Bte that is a top from a coke can my niece put on his little penis.
