Candi your computer just knows you need adult supervision.

My bastard MS Word only speaks American
You are joking right? You know that you're the Admin for the site that you downloaded right?
Are you able to get into your previous written docs saved as OpenOffice and edit them?
You know its a .org right?http://www.openoffice.org/ I use it all the time for desktop publishing but have to save docs in other formats or PDFs cause if I send them to others that don't have OpenOffice they won't work for them.
I KNOW, right. That's why it's confusing me- it says I need administrator permission even when I'm specifically running as administrator. I don't get it. I've been all over the forums, and everyone's saying that if you uninstall and reinstall as administrator, it'll fix it. But it hasn't.
So you can't open any saved docs from your files or work on a current piece. Can you attach a doc to an email?
For your OOo issue uninstall the previous version as completely as you can. When you do your re-install manually change the target directory - don"t overlay the current install.
After that - Switch to Libre
I moved from OOo and never looked back.
So there's basically no way to get back the story I was working on?
I hate when that shit happens...
