Im curious about the Mormon religion

My second cousin is a Mormon. There are portraits of strange serious men hanging on the wall.

For some reason I doubt it.

Lots of faiths, that identify themselves as "Christian" don't follow exactly with the old and new testament say.

I always find it amusing that people demean what they don't or are incapable of understanding.

Honestly, there is no "waiting" list to baptize people who aren't dead. The people who are baptized, have their names submitted by different people, usually family members. They don't run background checks to see if they were someone famous. If someone has submitted a name, the Church just trusts that the family has given permission. If there are family members still alive, they must give permission though. For example, my mom can't submit her father's name unless my grandmother agrees to it. There are always those who are going to try & get around the rules & obviously have succeeded, but there aren't people in the church making lists of people to baptize.
