What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

I'm convinced that we'll look back 40 years from now and point to the election of Obama and say "That was a troubling period for the United States and that's where the economy went bad" and I hope that there's a recovery for the sake of our kids.

“I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."
President Obama, June 2008

I'm certain that, in the future, some species will look back on our bones and try to determine which animals gnawed them.

And which of us wore flap holsters.

They will try to divine with those bones and struggle to decipher the hieroglyphic...

:)

“Look, I’m at the start of my administration. One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I’ve got four years. A year from now I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress. But there’s still going to be some pain out there. If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”
Barack Obama, The Today Show February 1, 2009.

"It's time for us to refocus and make sure that we understand that 'change we can believe in' was never going to be change overnight. Rather it's gonna be a slow, steady progression during which this aircraft carrier that we call United States of America slowly shifts in a direction that promises more opportunity. I’m going to need another term to finish the job.”

Finish the job.

Start the job.

Define the job.

Fuck the job . . . too much like work.

I want transubstantiated change.

Anything less cannot be believed in.

Oh, I want folding money, too.

Keep the change. :D

Straw Man. Appeal to Ignorance. Hasty Generalization. The trifecta of cognitive distortions in just a dozen words! I'm impressed!

False comparison. It's impossible to compare the two dates because in only one of them did we have a monumental global recession.

Straw Man. And please stop lying. No Democrats are dropping anyone from the equation - they're using the same BLS reports both parties have always used. It's only now that we're getting solid job numbers that you've decided to scramble and change the reporting tools. You're just disingenuous as hell.

The BLS report says that the number of part timers who wish they were full time hasn't changed in over a year. I've already linked it twice. But here you are again, lying your ass off about it.

You're just shoveling shit from some right wing latrine. Those people do not do actual valid economic analysis. They don't even have the resources. They exist not to inform but to manipulate very stupid people.

Fallacy of religious thinking. You choose to believe partisan opinion over objective analysis. Your thinking is flawed to the core and therefore you're just as dismissible as ditsy Jen or Busybody.

He ignored this...

so that he can post:

... Barack the Magic Negro...

... the LA Times they call him that...

... I won't have no Buffet!

I think it's clear what sort of poster he is by this point.

I did not ignore it.

I addressed him and then I went on to have some fun with Wat.

You are lying.

the pro -left aka "friends of obama" all they can do is lie and tweak statistics to paint a pretty picture

obama has lied, offered no leadership but obama was improve his golf game since becoming POTUS

That Meadowlark Lemon was hell on wheels with the round ball.

And yet you want to claim the stimulus saved us from a depression using only the static measuring used to prove it would hold unemployment under 8% and we would be experiencing real growth right now with under 6% unemployment...

The same people who developed those numbers and plans are now rebuking themselves and in doing so rebuking you. I sure don't need to at this point.

You also want to blame the economic collapse on Republicans and Bankers while holding Democrat Government harmless despite their efforts to protect the agent of collapse at all costs. Interesting.

So you throw stones at glass houses.

its hard to hold a conversation with Merc/UD,DickDaily,SeanR or the other as these people have no real world experience

TheTrove has admitted he works in a library and his only "skill" is taking government tests. what the hell, where is value in that?

government is the place where the stupid people go to work, as they are unqualified to find jobs in the real world

personally, I think most government leaders/managers have no clue what a recession is. for the most part most "government" have not felt or had to deal with money woes

Trust me, it's not a lot easier holding one with you.

Your passion over-rides your common sense and courtesy.

 Did he really say that?

What last laugh?

We're no where near the economy they used to blast as "burger-flipping" jobs when Bush was President.

Good point...can't have a race until we decide where the finish line is.

Perhaps the metric could be some percentage of "doom and gloom economic threads" appearing on the GB in a given time period.

I stopped doing them to honor this thread...

After some amount of years UD will be able to say, "see we're economically sound," but Obama will probably be gone when that happens.

But it will still be due to the policies he put in place, not the replacement...

;) ;)

If it weren't for Clinton, Bush would have been economically limited to one term.
