What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

He didn't know how bad it was...

... and yet, he acted anyway. Reminds me of the Skip Gates affair...

thinking about what you said, clearly a mistake obama made was trying to slowly peal off the "band-aide" ie giving stimulus money was used to keep government workers employed. this was clearly a mistake!

what obama needed to do was let as much shit as possible hit the fan, bottom out, and then start rebuilding.

clearly obama had pay off's and pay backs, and lack of leadership & management skills to realize and understand what was going on.

just like in business, oh wait, none of team obama has real world experience and they are all anti business

It was not a mistake.

It was another clever rendition of "never let a crises go to waste" and a wonderful way to shovel Obama Bucks to his various constituencies in the name of economic stimulation.

On Day One, he was ready and running for reelection and retribution against Cops, Capitalism and Cronyism...

;) ;)

what about all those shovel ready projects? oh what the obama regime meant was "they" could shovel money into their own pockets

I get it now:rolleyes:

p.s. are you calling me Jen? thanks to luke illegally posting some pictures of her, I see that she's hot

Yes you are.

Spamming hundreds of C&Ps just makes you seem like someone who is unable to articulate his own thoughts. Either that or you have no thoughts of your own.

yeah  like you have any original thoughts ;)

the queen is dead, long live the entitlement nation

Well, it was really, really bad and even though he was saying as a candidate that we were in a Depression, he never really though that it was so bad that he could not focus on Health Care more than the economy, but when he discovered it was really worse than the Great Depression, then he decided that Health Care reform was an economic necessity, not just Social Justice and declared that we were saved from a Depression and we would have recovered two years ago if those jobs had been as shovel-ready as promised and look, he saved GM, shot bin Laden and prevented 12% unemployment by his own calculations, never mind what CBO, Gallup, Rasmussen and those other rw-liars say about unemployment, Zandi, the Great Independent, the guy who missed the Housing Bubble PROVED Obama saved us from a Grecian meltdown and if there were no Republicans in office, we would not have to worry about the debt ceiling being hit again in September, why, we wold have a rolling debt ceiling because as he proved yesterday, it is way more important to spend on your voters than it is to worry about something as meaningless as a deficit, even though that was the Golden Ticket to election; harping on Bush's deficit spending...

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
Senator Barack Hussein Obama, 2006

The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents - #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back -- $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That's irresponsible. It's unpatriotic.
Barack Hussein Obama, REM: We’re on the eve of raising the debt to $16,000,000,000,000.00.

We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, got the economy movin' again, created two million private sector jobs over the last 17 months, but over the last six months we've had a run of bad luck, some things that we could not control.

No thoughts of my own what-so-ever...

If I did have thoughts though, I would wish to be really quick with the constant ad hominem!

Why waste your breath moaning at the crowd?
Nothing can be done to stop the shouting!
If every tongue were stilled the noise would still continue,
The rocks and stones themselves would start to sing!

OH! Bama hey bama, bama, bama, ho!
Bama hey bama OH! Bama!

See me! Hear me! Touch me! Fear me!

Right before you, I sell the slogan,
Gazing at you, I speak no truth,
Following me, you get excited,

I have got you, feeling with me,

And America would still rather have Obama than someone who thinks like you. That must be hard.

Holly Crap, Merc is one dumb ass.

what will Merc do, when obama isn't re-elected?

this will be an interesting political season. thank God for HBO. You know what might make it more interesting, is if political season was like the game Frogger. yeah some of them might not make it to the end

I disagree, in that we needed all of that pork laden fat stimulus. some times its better when a company fail so that a new one can take its place. bad leadership should never be rewarded and that is what the obama regime is doing

I've never seen anyone get quite as much of a hard-on as you do with logic snobbery. But for shits and giggles, here's a logic analysis of your last go around with Perg, hypocrite.

AJ calling others on logic is comedy. I wonder if he made any of his own logic boo-boos in this thead.

Straw Man Argument
- He ignores Perg's actual stated position in favor of making one up for him and attacking it. Perg then clarified his position (graciously, as it was perfectly clear to begin with) and asked him not to repeat the Straw Man but it didn't help.

Ad Hominem attacks
- "Perg hates capitalism" so of course he's making these points, pfft!"

Argument from Authority - "My wife is a medical case manager so I am an authority on this topic!"

Insistence upon False Dichotomies
- You're either an laissez-faire capitalist or you HATE capitalism. There's no in between and AJ eager as hell to brand others as haters.

False Civil Discourse
- "I'm always a up for civil discourse..." Followed by snide, arrogant remarks and putting Perg's ideas in quotations in order to belittle them. Then calling him "slow" and other names.

Ground Rule Manipulation - Perg isn't allowed to mention his experience with his spinal tap patient since it's a mere anecdote, but then AJ completely changes the rules when he wants to mention his burnt-out doctor or something that happens at his wife's hospital.

Just Blatant Eye-Watering Hypocrisy - AJ the notorious C&P arguer attacked Perg for arguing through C&P articles. It doesn't matter that Perg actually didn't post any articles, he still used attacked him for it.

It took you all of 20 minutes to fail (at least) seven times at rational discourse while proclaiming what a rational argument you were making. It was like you had a checklist of logical fallacies and were going out of your way to hit each one.

I know how much Perg hates when someone says LOL, but... LOL.

I made a mistake and needed to clear the air.

in a post I made reference to "perg" being a kept man. when I said Perg I meant ---> Peregrinator

Peregrinator, is a kept man. his wife is the one with the money and job.

Just wanted to clear that up, in case there was any confusion

Time to make another alt so I actually read your posts again (for a few minutes until you're outed). By the way, do you still have multiple tributes to me in your signature?

You're so much of a religious thinker that you "believe" otherwise. Nobody in the private or public sector knows how to do professional economic analysis. The only people in the country who are capable of looking at the economy in a professional, objective manner are Republicans, right?

Do you honestly not understand how idiotic you sound?

Yes, heading into an election in a few months the Democrats are DEFINITELY trying to crash the economy. That's just good politics.

You're such a brain dead moron.

Yes, it's that simple.

Economy: Democrats want it to be Government directed and that's bad because we get things like Solyndra, cash for clunkers and Obamacare. Haven't we all seen how bad Government directed economies are in the USSR, eastern Europe, North Korea, Cuba. There's no question that this approach doesn't work if your goal is to give people freedom and a vibrant market...and yet this is the path the dems want to take us (are taking us).

The Republican approach is to be more "hands off" and let the people make their own decisions on what to buy. This is the foundation of the constitution and this is what our nation has been about.

There are other objective comparisions too: In 2007 with the Republicans keeping marginal tax rates low, encouraging business and trying to hold the line on regulations, we had 4.6% unemployment.

During Obama's term, we got as high as 9.6% unemployment. It has been dropping lately, but with all the controversey about how many people the Democrats are dropping out of the % equation, it's difficult to tell what the rate really is, but I do find the chart a couple pages back that shows the declining number of full-time employed people in the United States far more indicative or our economic position than the latest BLS unemployment figures.

In summary, absolutely yes, the Democrats' economists have steered us in the wrong direction and some recent calculations that I saw was that we're all $4,000 a year less wealthy than we would otherwise have been because of the Democrats bad policies.

You can drop all the personal attacks, they make you look ignorant and show a lack of confidence.

The stimulus did nothing for this country except save a fraction of the jobs promised and add tremendous debt to our kids. There's no question about that.

I'm convinced that we'll look back 40 years from now and point to the election of Obama and say "That was a troubling period for the United States and that's where the economy went bad" and I hope that there's a recovery for the sake of our kids.

but it will be USSR 2.0 will be different with obama.

team obama, we bring failed ideas from the past back to life

obama campaign slogan - if you had money before, just give me another 4 years and my regime will strip you of that unnecessary money

first, lets take a look at GB players. We have Merc/UD/Celebaral, SeanR/SeanH, DickDaily, TxWife25, SgtPepper, Dripp, KingoftheOreo, RoyiN, (have I missed anyone)?

this segment of the population has given up on, not only life but worse, the American Dream! These fools believe the only way to get ahead in life is by government. Holly shit! are you kidding me?

how did we get to a place where people believe that government is the solution?

Yes, it's that simple.

Economy: Democrats want it to be Government directed

Straw Man. Appeal to Ignorance. Hasty Generalization. The trifecta of cognitive distortions in just a dozen words! I'm impressed!

There are other objective comparisions too: In 2007 with the Republicans keeping marginal tax rates low, encouraging business and trying to hold the line on regulations, we had 4.6% unemployment.

False comparison. It's impossible to compare the two dates because in only one of them did we have a monumental global recession.

During Obama's term, we got as high as 9.6% unemployment. It has been dropping lately, but with all the controversey about how many people the Democrats are dropping out of the % equation, it's difficult to tell what the rate really is...

Straw Man. And please stop lying. No Democrats are dropping anyone from the equation - they're using the same BLS reports both parties have always used. It's only now that we're getting solid job numbers that you've decided to scramble and change the reporting tools. You're just disingenuous as hell.

but I do find the chart a couple pages back that shows the declining number of full-time employed people in the United States far more indicative or our economic position than the latest BLS unemployment figures.

The BLS report says that the number of part timers who wish they were full time hasn't changed in over a year. I've already linked it twice. But here you are again, lying your ass off about it.

In summary, absolutely yes, the Democrats' economists have steered us in the wrong direction and some recent calculations that I saw was that we're all $4,000 a year less wealthy than we would otherwise have been because of the Democrats bad policies.

You're just shoveling shit from some right wing latrine. Those people do not do actual valid economic analysis. They don't even have the resources. They exist not to inform but to manipulate very stupid people.

The stimulus did nothing for this country except save a fraction of the jobs promised and add tremendous debt to our kids. There's no question about that.

Fallacy of religious thinking. You choose to believe partisan opinion over objective analysis. Your thinking is flawed to the core and therefore you're just as dismissible as ditsy Jen or Busybody.

And yet you want to claim the stimulus saved us from a depression using only the static measuring used to prove it would hold unemployment under 8% and we would be experiencing real growth right now with under 6% unemployment...

The same people who developed those numbers and plans are now rebuking themselves and in doing so rebuking you. I sure don't need to at this point.

You also want to blame the economic collapse on Republicans and Bankers while holding Democrat Government harmless despite their efforts to protect the agent of collapse at all costs. Interesting.

So you throw stones at glass houses.
