"Almost made the toplist" commiseration thread

My last story, Powerless, had 10 votes as of a few days ago, one 4-star and 9 5-star. Had it maintained its momentum, it would have been added to the toplist for all categories for the year. Unfortunately for me, I just checked its score, and the 11th vote was a 4-star. Denied!

Who else here woulda made the toplist if it weren't for [grumble grumble grumble]?

I'm not sure, but I think there's a minimum number of votes for the 12 month list.

On my end I could have quite a few in the "all time" lists, but that has a requirement of 100 votes and a lot of mine are in the eighties.

I never look at the top lists. I don't even know how long it took me to realize they were there. So I have no idea if I'm on any of them, which is a little defense mechanism -- if I don't know I'm not on them, then it's all good.

I believe the hot lists just serve to give targets to trolls. They feel morally obligated to bomb them. A four-star vote is not a bomb, BTW.

ETA: There are 250 stories listed on the thirty day hotlist, and yours is #71, with a score of 4.82.

My ghost story had the first 11 votes as 5s, and then the trolls found it...

It's still on the top lists though

Wow, really? Maybe I should check them out. On the other hand, now that you've said that, I can just keep imagining they're there without having too look. Cool.
