Do any of you think it's rude to not respond to a PM?

I respond to all PM's even if not interested.

I think it's a common gesture of courtesy to acknowledge someone who's trying to start a conversation with you.

Even if you just say 'not interested', it's more polite then ignoring someone.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Jake, guys and girls don't pm the same. Sometimes I will giggle or laugh outright at what someone says in a thread and I just gotta send 'em a note telling them I liked what they wrote and it made me smile. We get pm's that sometimes we just and wish we'd never opened it. I try and answer all pm's but sometimes I just pass because it was tasteless or worse.

It's not difficult to say: thanks but no thanks, so unless it's just plain nasty, I'll always reply.

How does one politely respond to "I just jerked off to your pics?" - thanks just doesn't seem to cover it. Or how about "I gotta a big dick."?

Though I will say I am a bad pm responder. I don't connect via a pc and it's a pain to go look at my pm's. I also don't get the pop ups letting me know when I get a message. So I will go in every now and then and do a pm clean out. So if I haven't responded, I will do so soon.

I usually reply to most PMs, but occasionally, a conversation will seem like it's going well then the other person will respond with something incredibly pithy or terse and it just sort of peters out.

Nope. I respond to about half my PMs...if that. I'm under no obligation to have any contact whatsoever with anyone, and I will not be extending any "gesture of courtesy" to people who show me none by sending obscene PMs.

This has been brought up many, many times....and I think that the guys here who are "nice" have no clue what the other 90% of the men are doing. Why should I say anything to men whose entire message to me, without "hello" or other salutation, is "Fuck yea baby, imma cum all over ur tits."

The thing that pisses me off even more is when someone I've never - ever - spoken to sends me LONG PMs asking tons of detailed questions after I've politely said that I prefer to talk and interact in the threads. I don't meet people via PM. I meet people in the forums....and then I'll PM you if you're interesting.

But....all things being relative....you get, what? A dozen a week? I'd probably respond to that many too.

The rude ones should be ignored. I'm talking about the others. The appropriate and respectful ones we're not interested in. They should warrant a reply.

If I were a creepy-ass stalking piece of shit who sent perverted and "icky" PMs to people....I would accept the fact that I didn't deserve a response. I might, hypothetically, do this graciously and quietly and not start pissing contest threads on the GB because I was ass-hurt that the girl I wanted was too good for me and couldn't be bothered to put up with my shit.
