You know what this means: you're never going to see another washed-up, half-senile football coach retire voluntarily ever again.

It's not good when si.com has a headline about Jo Pa's sons refuting reports of his death.

yeah, i was going to say. so far they're denying the reports. looks like someone at cbs may have shot their wad a little early.

Back in '78 or so, a TV station in Virginia ran a story on a tip about a senator who was allegedly killed in a car accident. The senator was a bit pissed about the report of his demise.

The TV anchor was looking for another job shortly thereafter.

Reminds of the famous Mark Twain quote.

Now CBS is saying Paterno's family is calling close associates and telling them to come say good-bye.

Who do you suppose was the first person to say "turn a phrase?"

I don't know, and I have answered all of the questions by Google for the day that I intend to. Jed Clampett drove a '21 Oldsmobile . . . that was the neat one.

I saw that in my up-late-review session this morning. Pretty cool.

Need any more proof that the situation is dire for Paterno? Here it is: Laurel just sent a p.m. advising me that she has deactivated Paterno's Lit account.
His Lit moniker was Anytit4Lion.

CBS exec: "Goddammit, someone has to fucking kill Joe Pa now. That's our only way out of this."

Not so fast, my friend!

What can I say? He got better.

Apparently CBS was cribbing off a Penn State student publication, which was the first to report the "death." Clearly massive unprofessionalism on numerous fronts.

yeah, someone has already resigned last i read.

That happened with Gabrielle Giffords, too. The press retracts and moves on. No big deal.

Took him long enough.

He could have spared himself looking foolish if he had died last fall.
