Isla d' Infinis Desirs(open for roleplayers)

Okay litsters, I'm pretty bored at the moment and itching for something to write, since I've already got the a couple chapters ahead of my first submission(just waiting for approval). So I thought that we could all lend our hands into a roleplay. Here's the general setting:

You and a few others have been sent invitations by mail to an all paid for and totally inclusive two week stay at a mysterious island resort. The resort is divided into four parts, each part having its own season. Who and what do you bring with you? What do you do in the island? Everything you need, you need only wish for. After all, we cater to your every pleasure.

Okay. Since I decided to put this up, I might as well start it off. :D

Rayvine arrived home from work late, stopping by her mailbox a moment before driving on to the house she shared with a some roommates in college. She put the mail down on the island, sifting through all the junk mail and bills to find a strange envelope with only her name and the words 'Isla d' Desirs Infinis', The Island of Infinite Desires, written on it. She opened the envelope curiously, reading over the invitation before finding that there was already a first class ticket to the said island on it. It seemed her suite would be the Cherry Blossom suites in the Spring Section. There were also instructions on the invitation on how to get there. She contemplated the question on who she would take with her. Figuring that she really wasn't very good friends with her roommates, and the fact that she really needed a vacation, she decided to go alone, figuring that she had nothing to lose.

A week later she was packed and ready to head to the island, going to the private airport that held the jet that would take her to the said island. The staff of the jet was hospitable and nice and so were the other people on board. Looking out the window, she spotted two more jets similar to hers and was glad to know there was a bit more than a handful of people that came. As the private jet took off, Rayvine grew a bit bored and began people watching. There were some couples and the hosts and hostesses were all unnaturally attractive, and more than twice she was caught openly staring and she was startled to see them wink at her. A couple more hours of this and she dozed, beginning to dream of the island and what it might provide for her.

Um...shouldn't we start the story with her arrival on the Island? That, after all, was the genius behind the very popular Fantasy Island tv show. There was no showing the people getting the mail, flying to the island, what they thought of the other people on the plane, etc. It all starts when they arrive on the island.

So could we please start over? Something like....

"Rayvine breathed in the warm Island air, smelling the fragrance of coconut oil and listening to the rustle of palm trees in the wind. Here at last! she thought, her heart racing with excitement...."

Yes? No?

Um...this wasn't based on some tv show. It was a totally original plot that I thought up. And the whole idea of the island is its magical powers to grant the people in it their desires. So its more a fantasy type roleplay.

I think you might have more success with a thread like this one if you posted it in the Sexual Role Play forum.

Also, it reminds me of the episode Shore Leave, from the original Star Trek TV series. I'm sure you weren't going for that either. It just underscores the idea that EVERYTHING has been on TV, in a movie, in a book, or somewhere. So don't sweat it.

I know you came up with it all on your own. My comment was regarding story writing technique, not the originality of the idea.

Getting mail isn't interesting unless it's a blackmail note or saying that someone has died. Getting on a plane and gazing at the pretty host/hostess isn't interesting unless, as in Iron Man, the stewardesses are pole dancing. Taking that first step onto the Island where every sexual fantasy is going to be granted, however, that's interesting. And as we're going to spend the whole story there--not with the mail or on the plane, that's where the story should start. IMHO at least.

Doesn't matter if it's Fantasy Island or the Island in Lost. One has to start *on the island* because that is where the action is and will be. Yes?

Somebody please tap me when she gets to the part where she's running naked through the island jungle just for the heck of it. :D

lol. i'll write something based on that idea sometime hun. Hey question, does the submissions we write have to be in order or can we just submit whatever story we wish and the site will just organize it by chapters?

That's more so for a story; RPers find it useful to have something that puts them in the place. Knowing why you're there sets a basis for developing your character in the role play. For a story, if what brought the people to the place where the action is of import, it would more likely come up as the characters and action proceeded.

If you're talking about a RP thread, the contributions will be in the order posted. There is no real reorganization possible. Have you visited either RP Forum? The stickies there,as well as the threads themselves, will tell you much about RPing on Lit.

The site will organise your submissions alphabetically by title. If you want to call it a series, you can, but the site will assign chapters in the order you submit them.

MY fantasy sex island has tentacles...

Thanks, Princess. My island fantasies never start with invitations, though; getting there is half the fun. Here's the start of one (would have sent it in a pm, but yours are turned off)...

“Too long a sea, too long a captain,” mused the old seaman as he paced the deck at midnight, “too long in command, too long responsible.” He wished for an end to these days, for a freedom not known since he first went to sea. But this was the only life he had known, and he was unable to even imagine another, let alone choose one to follow.

There was a place he had heard of, though, an island uncharted, known in tales, a land in the sea that could only be found by not looking for it, an island free of orders, free of giving them and free of taking them, and so he conspired to leave his command.

His First Mate was competent enough, he knew, and deserving of the chance to rise in office, and so he drew a pistol from the ship’s locker and approached the mate as he stood watch at the helm.

“The captain is a tyrant, Sir,” he declared as he brandished his side arm at the first mate, “I demand he be put off the ship this instant!”

“This is mutiny,” countered the First Mate; “I’ll have none of it!”

“You will have all of it, Sir,” the Captain continued, “or you’ll have the lead from this pistol.”

And so the First Mate agreed, and set the Captain adrift in the ship’s skiff, a small vessel, but sturdy and lantern-sailed, with provisions enough for a month at sea.

The old sailor set his sail in the light of the newly-full moon, driving all thoughts of the legendary island from his mind and focusing only on the glistening dark of the waves before him. “I’ll sail where the currents and the winds conspire to send me,” he said to the night, “and find a home, a respite, someplace where the two do meet.”

He sailed in and out of nights and days, ignoring stars and sun to keep his place unknown, until the next newly-full moon rose and illuminated an uncharted land, an isle bathed in, defined by, the light reflecting on it. The current and the wind propelled him straight to the encircling rock and reef guarding the island, rock and reef that would dash his skiff into a thousand pieces and dash himself into shreds of flesh for the dinners of the denizens of the surrounding sea.

Down with the sail! And he struck on with his oars, his back to the isle and its guardians, but his bow to the beach beyond the breakers. Eyes would be vainly used here; the glistening of the moonlight on the crests and foams of the waves would only deceive. Sound, and sound alone, showed him the way. His ears were tuned to each shift in timbre of the waves crashing, and he deftly stroked his way through a break in the atoll’s surround. The lagoon lay quiet save for the splash of fish and the murmur of the waves lapping gently on the shore, and these sounds led him on to the yielding sands of the beach.

Ashore now, but in no place known, he sat to rest and contemplate his fate. But contemplation could tell naught more than that he was on land, a fragrant land, its air sweetened by the blossoms of the forest seen only as a shadow in the moonlight. Still, he struck out from the beach, edging the palms and tropical conifers, to find what might be his fate...

Wow, this is a pretty good starting post Tio. :D let me make a new thread for it though because this one has turned into more of an OOC rather than a main thread. and ill also see if i could turn on my PM
