Elvis was a good looking, charismatic, guy and a great entertainer but he didn't write and barely strummed an acoustic guitar. He only played r&r until he went into the Army. When he came out of the service he sold out and became a Vegas act.

If anyone can lay claim to the title of the king of rock & roll it has to be Chuck Berry.

Berry has three songs permanently etched in the 'Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock 'n' Roll' list -- 'Johnny B. Goode,' 'Maybelline,' and 'Rock 'n' Roll Music.' Of course, he has countless more that have merely influenced it.

I agree about the quality of Chuck Berry
in that he wrote his own songs,
and was a great singer
and entertainer.
But as someone said above.
history shows that no-one
comes close to Elvis.
Regardless of what anyone
may think of him.

weekend, in January. A train leaves
from Sydney to the country for a
big Elvis weekend. It is always full
of Elvis fans and impersonators.
The town where it is held has parades,
shows, the whole deal.

You have to be someone to warrant
that. I cannot think of anyone else.

John Lennon is 10 times better than Chuck Berry and to be honest the only singer even close to Elvis is Buddy Holly.
If Buddy Holly would have lived longer Rock & Roll would have seen a few changes.
