Latex Lifestyle Blog - real?

This is... the most unusual thing I have ever heard of. And, as a formerly practicing Muslimah, the burka thing weirds me out a lot.

She mentions that at certain points - supposedly someone told her that by dressing and living as a Muslim would, even without saying the Shahada, she is Muslim. She disagrees with that, as do I, and I'm surprised anyone would suggest it...what do you make of that part? She also says that she and women in niqab often take note of each other, etc.

Well, I disagree with that too... you're not a Muslim unless you declare it in front of other Muslims verbally, so just wearing traditionally middle eastern clothing doesn't really mean anything. And Muslim women don't usually stay veiled at home.

It always weirds me out a little when non-muslim women wear burkas... not other forms of hijab so much because sometimes you have to when visiting Muslim countries or just visiting a mosque, but the burka is so... I dunno. It just seems like the highest form of culture appropriation.

In one of her introductory posts, she mentions that she and her husband "like" ethnic clothes. Which is all well and good, but wearing them out and about does seem a bit like appropriation. Her husband said once - only once - that she was Muslim and couldn't take off the burka, but most of the time he just says "she can't take it off" and expects people to be okay with it.

Some posts just seem stretched far beyond the realm of reality ("In Flight Entertainment" from June 2008 is one) but I still don't know...

Before I make a stab at what I think it is, I'd like to know how common latex fetishes are among women.

She mentions early on (I'm into 2005 now) that it was something her husband taught her to like when they married in 1975. So it's possible that she has the fetish, even if not many other women do.

Sangsuesub - have you heard of Muslim people suggesting that non-Muslim women should take up burkas, chadors, niqab, etc?

So odd. Yeah, I have trouble believing some of it. Maybe she's voicing outrageous fantansies or embellishing a kink to make it seem extreme.

Man, I could talk all day about the fetishization (is that even a real word?) of Muslim garb, specifically hijab, by westerners. Half of me really doesn't care, but the other half is screaming, "No! It's not yours! Stop it!"

Only when they're trying to convert them. I'm not sure how common it is, though. But snaring curious non-Muslim women into a discussion about hijab and getting them really interested is a starting point to getting them to go to a mosque and then amping up the conversion techniques.

The reason I was asking was that I was going to suggest it might be a man's elaborate masturbatory fantasy, since hardcore fetishes tend to be more of a male thing than a female thing.

I'm still undecided. I'm pretty sure it's not something that was created for the purpose of making money, given the lack of ads and such. The heavy fetishism points more toward a male than a female, though 7+ years is a LONG damn time to keep a masturbatory blog running. It's also a long time to keep a hoax or a massive attempt at trolling running, too.

That being said, I don't think it's entirely true, either. My bet is on either a long-term creative writing exercise or a real person with a real latex fetish and a propensity for over-exaggeration.

But then I'm prone to skepticism in general. ;)

This is what I have been leaning toward as well. But that's why I posted - I've been reading all this, and I know I am a skeptic, so I thought I'd see what others thought.

I keep thinking Jesus Christ that is a lot of $$$$$$$ to spend on latex. Every post I read she had 3-4+ layers, plus corset, plus 5"+ heels/boots, plus gags, plus posture collars... Plus vacuum beds, latex sheets/comforters, and her husband's latex wardrobe.

They also fly first class everywhere they go around the world. So...this is secretly the blog of Melinda Gates? It's the only way I can think of that they can afford it! Don't forget the catheters, double dildo panties, and nasogastric tubes for nourishment.

Also, there's a post where she said she spent a year completely covered in latex; no one saw her skin, not even her. I saw a few allusions to rashes and such in other posts, so that's realistic, but a whole year in latex... I'm pretty sure a body couldn't handle that. Something's afoot!

I'm thinking.. I wore full latex and after an eight hour day, my whole body smelled like one big foot. Yuuuck! And the Tinea Versicolor took weeks to get rid of.

I would expect severe vitamin D deficiency, and the kind of pruning you get on your fingers after a bath-- Eventually, big chunks of your epidermis would begin to slough off.

So, um. No.

I didn't even think about that. Duh. You're totally right.

I don't know but I'd expect, that latex collects condensation. Unless she don't breath, shes dripping everywhere.

People fetishize it?

I might note though that there are a lot of religions and cultures with similar head coverings. Since hijab is generally considered just to be the headscarf over here, certainly I see "hijab" used interchangeably with "headscarf", though if we want to get technical it includes "a loose outer garment that obscures the shape" as well. So it's not really "cultural appropriation" in the same way as other things may be. It's not only the Muslims and it has its place in western religious culture as well. Muslims certainly don't have a stake on headscarves, westerners can definitely convert to Islam if they'd like (disregarding the fetishism comment) and then it would be theirs too. At any rate, headscarves are a pretty common mega conservative religious thing, certainly I grew up seeing women in headscarves (nearby Hutterite colonies and all and there's a lot of Mennonites who wear scarves and I'm sure the Amish do too). And then there's nuns, Sikhs... etc. Just my little sulking.

As for the blog, all I can say is "hot". And not the sexy kind of hot. I'm thinking "people sweat, so where is it all going?" kind of hot. It seems... impractical. Sincere and consistent from post to post but... very impractical.

I had the same thought, and wondered what the effect of this experiment would be on her skin.

There are wealthy eccentrics, though, who I could imagine devoting quite a bit of money and time to their fantasy. You see evidence of it here and there, and I don't think all of it is false. Perhaps exaggerated, but she only claimed to be encased for one year, and took it all off at night to sleep in latex sheets.

She didn't take it off at night, the year she was encased. She just slept in it with the rubber sheets.

I'm still reading it, but the more I read, the less I believe...

One entry I read claimed that the thinnest layer of latex next to her skin was mostly transparent, and their bathroom full of windows/natural light; therefore she got enough exposure to sunlight (plus a daily multi-vitamin) to avoid a vitamin D defeciency.

Bathroom? What good does a bath do a woman completely encased in latex?

And if it was transparent, then she's lying about not seeing her body being invisible the whole year. Technically, anyway.

How did she keep her head shaven, not to mention her legs and crotch?

Oh my it's far too easy to poke holes now. I would rather the willing suspension of disbelief...
