I was wondering if anyone knows hoe long it takes to get my story posted on the sight, and if it takes longer to get votes. I submitted a story and a poem a few days ago and it still says pending. It also says there are 60some odd veiws and no votes. Anyone know whats going on?
Thanks!

Right now stories are taking about 4 days to post. Poems I'm not sure on.

The views you are getting during the waiting period are a glitch in the system and most likely bots of some sort.

Welcome to the madhouse.

The views don't mean anything. They're a glitch that's been going on for a while.

The normal wait is about 3 days.

Currently, it's closer to 5.

New authors normally have a day or two extra on the first couple of submissions.

Themed contests in progress ( Valentine's will start soon ) can slow things down.

Audio submissions are only approved on certain days ( Tuesdays, I believe ) and Illustrated stories can take longer. So do stories submitted in any format except copy/paste or uploading plain .txt.

That covers it on the quick :)

On the first question, it normally takes three-to-five days for a story to post (often a shorter time for poems). Since going into the Christmas holidays, though, it's been taking a day or two longer than the average. My own posting rate of three days for years and years is currently running at four or five days. New submitters normally have to wait a bit longer. Do not fiddle with any buttons on the submission while it's in pending, or it might be flipped back to the beginning of the wait.

The second question, the mounting of "views" while a story is in impending is a computer anomally that's been around for about six months and is happening to everyone's stories. It's a mystery, but it's one that doesn't mean anything regarding your individual story. There's no evidence that anyone at the website is opening your story up--or will do so until the day it comes up in the queue to post.

As far as voting, it doesn't start until the story posts--and most authors experience nearly all of the voting that's going to be done during the first two weeks while the story is working its way down the "new" list.

Welcome to the Lit. story file. It's natural to be antsy until the story posts.

:D:D:D

I think that went well. Three minutes basically the same answer three times.

And three years ago, this would be an entirely different story.

It took a lot of bitching to get that changed, too *laugh*

A running gag is one thing, but answer the damn question first :p The poor newbies didn't get the joke - they just got pissed.

And when you do a lot of bitching like that, you gather a lot of forum enemies. ;)

No doubt there are probably still a couple of people aggravated at me, but most of them got over it ( at least on the surface )
