Who was the best dictator: Hitler, Stalin, or Chairman Mao?

Obama and Carter would have loved all three of them

Objectively, you'd have to say Mao Miles.

China is working pretty well these days and his picture still hangs in Tianamen.

Hitler's bone fragments were stomped on by the Red Army and god knows where Putin's put Stalin's body.

So the Communist Party of China is a dynasty?

In the sense that it's a continuation of an "autocratic" state, absolutey.

Zhang, Zhou, Qin, Han, Jin, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing and now CCP. I've left out (on purpose) smaller dynastic periods such as the "Eastern Han" and "Liao". I'm calling 1911-1949, nothing but Civil War and Japanese invasion. Some insist on calling it the "Nationalist" period though. Autocratic, in any case...

They were all lovable - like the living ones - in their own ways.

Leave it to Oreo to be serious in a spoof thread. He's a scream, ain't he?

I wonder when I'd see you again. Still working on that Ron Paul Revolution?

Most people have the misunderstanding that Adolf Hitler is history's worst monster. However, Chinese dictator Mao Zedong butchered over 80,000,000 people over a seven-year period. This is many times more than Hitler and Stalin.

The people's republic of China is responsible for over 150,000,000 murders from 1949-present. It remains today and may remain forever the single most atrocious and genocidal political regime in all of human history.

"Villainous" presidents such as Bush and Obama don't have shit on these people.

Their recorded history is 5,000 years old.

That is a long time without a different sort of political structure.

But, Taiwan has a functioning democracy (lately), and they started from exactly the same place culturally.

Where do you get the 7 year period, the Cultural Revolution? Bullshit. I'm a Chinese scholar. I can accept a figure over 70,000,000. I can also accept a figure of 150,000,000 easily throughout Chinese dynastic history but not since 1949.

Estimates of deaths resulting from The Great Leap Forward range from 18 to 32 million.

The Cultural Revolution was sucky to live through but did not cause millions of deaths. Thousands, maybe.

Not exactly the same place.

Native Taiwanese are not Han Chinese. They are there own, aboriginal, population. The Han population moved primarily from Shandong (northeast China) and Canton (southeast China). The Chinese diaspora really beginning in the 19th Century.

Their political parties all derive from the Kuomintang. I don't think there is much difference at the national level. It's my understanding that mayoral races are quite heated though.

Shocking to me that none of Lit's lefties has come forward to argue that Hitler was actually a conservative.
"That's what they taught me in school."
I'm not surprised. And with the critical thinking skills that go along with all that, it never dawned on them to question that maybe Hitler wasn't a small government, free market kind of guy.

Is it not ironic that the bloodiest part/s of World War II was fought between two totalitarian powers?
