yes. why? because some of these assholes lack boundaries and if they can find out enough about you they will try to attack you in real life. hiding behind multiple ids is one very obvious way to do that.

Lol - if you're really hoping it's a girl, then you must surely understand why that girl won't climb underneath a car when she's wearing a really nice outfit!

Never really looked beyond the words on the screen TBH.
Until all this about KK, I would never have bothered to look.

Now, I'm curious - calling people out, and asking for proof of who they are... Like I asked earlier, what exactly would it take for a person to conclusively prove who they are?

I'll take a stab at it.

Yes, the board is mostly anonymous and we traditionally respected each others privacy.

Yes. There are rules about posting personal information and pictures, and that is an owner / moderator issue, and they usually delete stuff whenever somebody steals pictures and says they are of themself and post them here, or whenever somebody copies or hacks faceyspace info and posts it here.

Beyond that there's custom and comraderie that goes back to when Laurel was posting every night, and Lit was like a small town, we even had threads about it.
It was a Free Speech site and we respected anyone's honest opinion. People let their hair down and revealed a lot of innermost thoughts.

Perhaps the distinction isn't so much who as what we say we are, if that makes any sense.

Things like gender, sexual orientation, marital status , kinks , and nationality can matter to people seeking a relationship or just some IM action. We respect a person's right to conceal these things, but not to lie and mislead. Once a person is caught in a li e, I start to suspect that they could be a recycled troll trying to gain people's trust in order to get compromising info and gain revenge.

I've taken Lit contacts to Real Life . I've personally partied or dined with 31 Litizens, spoken to a couple others by telephone, snail mail, etc. I even married one of them.

Eventually trolls overwhelmed the place and drove Laurel away, and eventually many others, myself included. Even so, Lit holds a nostalgic place in our hearts, along with our old "neighbors" & friends..

I guess you could say that there is an old boy network, where I would accept the word of people I know or people that know people I know kind of thing as far as proof is concerned.
