First place for that preying mantis-ish macro photography thingie, meh. But then, that's National Geographic.
I loved the last three, though, especially the fishermen. Amazing.
That first place photo is a "moving motion" picture of a lioness grabbing the rump of a gazelle. The tail of the lioness and the horns of the gazelle are the balance points and gives the eye the picture once they come into focus.
It took me a moment to wrap my head around it. Like you I saw a scorpion at first.

But wait, we’re not talking the same pic. You’re talking number four, I think? Number one is an insect. No?
Without the numbers my old brain filled in scorpion for preying mantis, Yes I am referring to #4. Number 1 is a dragonfly in the rain.
Getting old sucks but the alternative sucks even worse.![]()
