So I am getting my first tattoo tomorrow, a pretty small unobtrusive thing, but it gave me this thought. 2 fold really. how if ordered by a Dom to get a tattoo, would I? Well, if they were truly my Dominant of course. But the second part was, would it hurt less if ordered to do it by my Dom? Hard to say as I currently am unattached, but I just wanted to share these thoughts and perhaps hear some other's thoughts on the same topic.

I would recommend waiting for obvious reasons.

Well this is a hypothetical situation I suppose where it is a long term D/s relationship.

Any permanent markings are a hard limit for me, so not something I'll have to deal with. It's one option.

I think it might also depend on what the tattoo would be of, but it is a curious topic, it would definitely be crossing the line for some.

Agreed. I have three tattoos, none of which I was "ordered" to get. I got them because I liked the design, or what it represented.

Sir is a clean skin, mainly because He's never found a tattoo He liked enough to get etched on His body. He does however like my tatts, and is keen for me to get more, if I want them. :)

And, depending on the spot, sometimes it really doesn't hurt that much :)

But I guess, if that's the way you operate, then 'taking it' for someone else would probably help

Anybody who says tattoos don't hurt is lying...there are some locations, positions, conditions that might hurt less, but they still hurt. I have eight. I can tell ya. :)

I can say that the ones on my biceps did not hurt much-I'm not saying not at all, but very little-

Some areas are just softer The ones on my forearms were not painful until they reached just under my elbow where there is a lot less muscle.

The most painful is the C in the Lovecraft tat in my profile. That fucker was right on the bone.

Oh yeah, they vary by locations, but they all hurt at least SOME! Of course some people don't mind it as much as others...so that varies too.

Yeah, I've heard that spine is bad. For me it was on my back over the kidneys...OW OW OW

Ouch. Yeah that is some soft skin there. My sister has a few and the one she said hurt the most was top of her foot. Yet I heard another woman say that the one she has there barely hurt.

Pain threshold most likely factors in as well. The fact that I consider pain recreational may have something to do with my tats not hurting so much.

Mine's on my thigh, and I would have mostly called the sensation 'hot and scratchy'

There were a couple of times where it got too much and I had to bite my tongue, but that only lasted moments.

i got my first, it was awesome. i mean it hurt some but it was fun lol. all that adrenaline gotta love it. it was right next to my shoulder blade.

I have to agree lovecraft, the tat on my spine was painful ... so was the one on the top of my foot (and over the tendon of my ankle).

All this talk of tattoos is making me want another one!! :D But what do I want? And where?

Well you know what the next one you would be getting is and where it will be:devil:

My sub has a tattoo that represents our relationship. We spoke about it idly for a while. I would never have made her get it. She wanted to and we both love it.

As a sidenote...I have on occasion seen clients to ensure a painless tattoo. I kind of think the discomfort is part of the experience but some people come with needle phobias and are also terrified of the pain, so it can help a lot.

Tattoos about thirty years ago used to hurt a lot more than they do now. Those are the kind that are down to the muscle and aren't getting removed no matter how much you decide that with hindsight they suck.

The pain varies with the needle used. The black outline of a tat is done with a needle that goes deeper. The outline of a tat never fades.

The colors inside the tat are not as deep. Therefore slightly less painful, but the colors are what will fade quicker.

Matter of fact my next one won;t be new but a re coloring of the Paul Booth version of Pan on my arm that I got 12 years ago.

<snip>

I particularly love hearing about the stories & meaning people sometimes have behind their tattoos. Even people who say "oh mine don't have any special meaning" usually have some story to go with the tattoo if you can pry it out of them.

My first one is on my mid to lower back, it is a circular design with a star in the middle and is an African symbol meaning "I change my life". I had left my ex husband a few months before and thought it was very fitting. It is on my back because I am "moving forward".

Second is a tribal heart on left upper arm/shoulder. I just liked the design really, but it fits now because I have found love in my life for the first time

The third is a tribal kiwi on other arm/shoulder which represents my birth place (New Zealand) :)
