Adds to harsh on kids?

It looks like it's harsh on parents, but somebody needs to say it.

I think there is a diffrence between fat and obese...

at least there USED to be ...

I guess i think "childhood obesity"
and i think kids who are too big to run and play
or fit into their desks

This is a very good friend of mine(honest :p)
This morning she blogged

"The Hydrostatic Body Fat Test just marked me at 19.75% body fat. This morning, the nutritionist marked me at 19.5% body fat. CFP marked me at 33% body fat. I am so confused."

I don't think anyone is really confused about it. I am 55 years old. I have friends I have known more than 30 years. Some of them are obese and have been for as long as I've known them. They are now in their 50's and total fucking wrecks. Diabetes, loss of kidney function, gout, and chronic pain is a short list of their problems.

The human body was not designed to carry this kind of load. It wears out before it's time. It's also very expensive. I pay for private health insurance. My premium has gone up every year for the past 5 years and it will continue to go up. I am paying for all my fat friends.

I think there is a HUGE difference between children and adults
In the ad, the one boy child, is fat, yes
but i would not have used the word obese to describe him.

Unlike adults, children's bodies are is constant change
I know lots of people who were pudgy children who
lost the fat naturally.

When you have ad's describing the downfalls
of childhood obesity, i think the children in them
should be obese.

IMO the ads don't go far enough.
Obesity is the single biggest cost to healthcare - and it is entirely preventable!
Shame on parents for allowing their kids to become so overweight.

And don't anybody try and tell me that giving kids junkfood is cheaper than healthy food (an arguement I hear constantly, mainly from the poorer end of town).
If I can make a soup or casserole that covers all the nutritional requirements for less than $5 to feed 5-6 people, so can other people.

Parenting advice from the Nazi that got her kids taken away and has one that's 16 and pregnant after running away.

I'm beginning to understand your opposition to showing ID when you vote.

Ad is short for advertising. Adds is, like, math.
I hope that wasn't too (not "to") harsh.

Dear KRCunting

For the millionth time, none of MY kids were ever taken away from me.
Your reading and comprehension skills are just not there, are they?

Sincerely
wq

p.s. Not one of my kids is, or has ever been, overweight. So yes - parenting advice from me.

so your not one statistic but another.

The biggest difference between children and adults is children do not feed adults.

This is not a problem of pudgy children. This is a problem of children who grow up overfed and inactive. They won't loose that naturally.

Ok, parenting advice from the Nazi that has a pregnant runaway teen. Whatever.
Either way you're a piece of shit.

Another thing that makes this problem so difficult to deal with is that parenting skills get brought up on page one.

So far this thread has touched on:

Obesity
Bad spelling
Staying in school
Tramp stamps
Teen pregnancy
Overeating
Nazis
Cheap meals
Terrible grammar
Scathing insults
Advertising
Parenting skills
Aging, and
Medical conditions

My evening is now complete.

*munches on popcorn, which I pan-popped myself and sprinkled with a minimum of salt*

but isnt your teenage daughter pregnant?

True, she is pregnant.
But funnily enough, what I have taught her about nutrition and excercise seems to have stuck, because she's not gaining huge amounts of weight and still goes to the gym 5 sessions a week.

Regardless of what statistic I may be, my opinion regarding obese kids is the same.
And I'll go one step further... parents who overfeed their kids and don't enforce some kind of physical activity should be penalised, and they should be forced to attend nutrition and excercise classes to learn - and if they refuse their kids should be removed to a healthier environment.
Childhood obesity is child neglect.

air-popped, with a sprinkle of brewers yeast is much healthier :D

Maybe so - but I'm a piece of shit with children who are all well within the healthy weight range.

I was fat as a kid then I got really sick. They say if I wasn't over weight I probably would have died.

Now your getting close to the government regulating what we
can and cant do...

Which reminds me of the argument when they started trying to force people to quit
smoking by banning smoking everywhere, even outside(in certain places)

....

I am not saying childhood obesity is good
or I am for it. I am saying 1) targeting the children is foolish
children dont buy the food or prepare the meals.
and 2) there is a difference between obese and fat.

Lots of children are fat, and as they grow, grow into their bodies

And in the meantime, computer and video game manufacturers, fast food restaurants, and soft drink and junk food manufacturers continue to mind fuck little kids with impunity, not to mention their parents.

Educate parents and kids on how to shop, cook, and plan healthy meals, increase physical activity programs during and after school, get all Pepsi and Coca Cola products, advertising, and influence out the schools, and ban marketing and advertising that targets children under the age of 12.

Then you were in a car wreck and if you had been wearing a seat belt, you would have been killed.
