The Author's Hangout Valentine's Day 2012 Support Thread

Just to make sure the troll doesn't sully the top of the new page with his oversized fonts, lame stolen pictures, and nonsensical rambling... ;)

I think I might have to think up a story. I don't think I've missed a contest since I started in 2005. Just fun to ber part of it all.
We can start the New Year off with a bang!

You know, its one thing That Laurel/Manu let this boob exist in his won thread, but can't they ban him from the contest threads?

And by quoting his entire post, are you not indeed giving him added air-time? Now all of us who had him on ignore have to read it all over again!

Tsk.

Hear, hear!

If anyone feels they must quote the delusional fraud, only quote what you have to, and remove the ridiculous fonts, pictures, etc. It's easy enough to do by editing the quote.

Repeating his garbage defeats the ignore feature, which so many have wisely chosen to utilize to shut the troll out, and can double up on the bandwidth theft he perpetrates whenever he hotlinks a picture off someone else's server without permission.

Just finished my Valentines Day story. It came into my head a couple of days ago. Guess I'll have to hold on to it and wait three weeks. Wrote it yesterday. Maybe another will pop into my head within three weeks. Penn Lady, doing a good job on the thread. :)

Banzai!

I'm taking the plunge!

I just finished a story with a Valentine's Day connection and I intend to enter the upcoming themed contest. Having never entered a contest before, I am unsure of the outcome. The instructions seems straightforward, so I don't expect any technical difficulties.

What type of flame-retardant clothing should I don for this kind of activity?

Thanks, DG. I always thought I'd make a good supervisor. ;)

Just bring your suntan oil for the first few days and then change into the flame retardant clothing for the last week. Full fire suits are only required for the sweeps at the end.

It also depends on which category you are entering also. Some require fire suits earlier than others. :D

Dual, Your story is good. I wish you, and all competitors, good luck in the contest. And of course thanks to SA Penn Lady for holding high the torch (as Colonel McRae said).

Diving in with ya...

I have decided to come out of the closet and enter a contest on here also for the first time. I need a little Post-NaNoWriMo kick in the pants...;)

Is there a specific word count? I looked at the general contest rules and they seem...well...pretty general.

And general they are. :) There is no specific word count. The basic requirement is that it be a stand-alone story. You can't submit a chapter of an ongoing story, for example, as an entry. The other basic rules of no underage sex and no bestiality of course apply as well.

Good luck. :)

750 word minimum is the only word rule.

One down and three to go.

Does Valentine's Day actually have to appear in the story to qualify for the contest? What if the story only features teasing and some seduction?

I think the Valentine's Day contest is the most restrictive of the contests in theme. I could see something romantic without a reference to the day being acceptable. I don't see what teasing and seduction have to do with the theme without some closer connection. That said, the theme seems taken only as a suggestion, and I don't see many stories not following the theme very well being dinked on precisely that point.

Said teasing and seduction should probably occur on Valentine's Day. It is the "Valentine's Day" contest after all.

It's not that hard to wrap the holiday into the story. You don't have to go crazy with cupids and hearts. Just have the conclusion or some critical moment happen on the day. Those events are going to happen ( if not, you don't have a story :p ), and if they could happen on any day, why not Valentine's Day?

Valentine Day is also about love and all things that lead to the ultimate connection of two souls becoming one. *cough gag cough* ;) I've got my entry written and will spend the next 12 or so days editing, adding - subtracting, re-editing, reading and re-reading before submitting it so it can battle whomever dares to try and steal last place from me. :D

Wahoo! I came up with what I think is an amazingly solid idea and the story is developing well! Should be ready for opening day.

I didn't think I'd come up with anything because I like writing non-consent, and a non-consent valentines day story would be pretty tough to pull off.

So this isn't non-con, but does have a really intense flavor to it. It's also far outside the straight "loving wives" category. Almost has a dark harlequin vibe to it, maybe. And it's writing as a long, slow build to what should be a great payoff.

Ok, enough trash talk ;)

Have fun, everyone!

I woke up this morning with a new middle and end to my story, so that's what I'm going to play with this morning. Can ya feel the  in the air? A great thread to place all those :heart::rose: emotes.

I started one last night and finished it this morning. It's only 5000+ words. Need to go over it again and then off to the editor. I'll admit I'm not the best writer but I do have some good ideas. haha
Best of luck to everyone.
With respect

I had a flash of inspiration, and may just have time to write it. It depends upon whether I can keep what's already on my plate moving at a reasonable pace, as that stuff has priority.

If the idea pans out, it's sure to make the unmentionable one have another meltdown *laugh*

That is, if he's even bright enough to find it. He's in his ghost town complaining about the 2012 contest schedule not being posted, and it's been up since early December :p

Number 2 is about finished but I may have to rewrite the ending. I don't like the suddenness of it.

I thought he was still trying to figure out a way to convince Laurel to change it over to the "How would you fuck mommy after cupid shot her with his bow contest."

In either case, as long as he is distracted the fun can actually happen.
