Trailer for "The Hobbit" is released.

any female fans could win the chance to have sex with a genuine hobbit.

Peter Jackson's dedication to preserving Tolkien's vision is no less than stalwart.

It's supposed to be really singy.

Gods, I can't wait. Narnia and Middle Earth are where I grew up. ;)

Only 51 more weeks.:nana::nana::nana:

Went to the movies for the first time in a long time twice in the last two days (Sherlock and Ghost Protocol) and was struck by the previews, all for movies that won't be out until summer. No chance I'll remember any of them by then. Hell, I don't remember any of them now, though I remember thinking at the time I'd like to see a couple of them.

Not to worry. They'll bash you in the face with advertising every chance they get. Wait for the Hobbit Happy Meal and that sort of shit. Ten percent off a full tank of gas if you can recite "The Road Goes Ever On" from memory.

Looks great. I'm pretty excited to see it. I wonder if the franchise will continue with some of the stories from Unfinished Tales or The Silmarillion.

The Silmarillion came up in an interview I saw with Jackson. He's considering it.

If LOTR took him three movies, TS will take seventy-five.

I think the story of Beren and Luthien would make a good standalone. Maybe Fingolfin confronting Morgoth.

Hmmm.. while the Trailer looks like it be a great movie... I didn't really see a lot to say it stays true to the book and looks to be mostly about Bilbo finding the One Ring when that was not much more than a footnote in the book. No Smaug? I would be very disappointed if that happens.

What he said was they were looking at parts of the book to see what would work. I agree that Beren and Luthien would be excellent.

I am really looking forward to this! A re-read before I see the movie is a must. I have always been fascinated with Tom Bombadil. And oh! That scene when Bilbo see's elves for the first time. Each of the hobbits, especially Thorin.

On to watch that trailer. :)

This is the first of two parts, and Jackson says that the differences are actually more like additions to the original story where they take something the appendix and add it in. Smaug is definitely in the second part from what I understand. Benedict Cumberbatch from Atonement has been cast as the voice

Only one Hobbit. The rest were Dwarves. ;)

Ah, Thanks for straightening that out. Seems to me the break would be the capture of the Party by the Wood Elves. I would think the "Great Apple Barrel Escape" makes a kind of 'Cliffhanger ending'. Or a great start for part 2.

It's a great story by itself, sort of Romeo and Juliet. I really liked Fingolfin when I was a kid, though. I want to see him riding through Morgoth's army and them all getting out of his way.

You're not likely to see Bombadil. He was in the first book of LOTR and was skipped over in the movie. Disappointing, but understandable, since he did little really to advance the plot. He was a fascinating sidebar, unfortunately.

It would be a wonderful cliffhanger to leave them in captivity. The apple barrel thing would make an excellent opening scene in Movie 2.
