I'd spotted that too :(

Its so sad , we used to have great discussions here...I mean on Lit itself. No name calling or nonsense. Threads on writing..**** stuff. I miss the old days when writing and such meant something.

I blame it on the departure of so many high quality individuals. I miss the old days too. I miss the sense of humour, the discussions and the wit.

The only remedy that comes to mind is to cultivate newbs with potential. If you spot a newbie of substance, lure them over to the dark side as only you can ;)

I would help you but I'm woefully and regrettably under qualified due to my intilectual ineptitude, ill humour and and general lack of socialibilty.

I no longer have that in me...tried, but they are mean.

You have a lot more in you that you think you do. You just need the right opportunity.

I'm sure someone worthwhile will happen along eventually
At least, that's what I'm going to belive.
Until then I'll try to piss you off in pink periodically just to make sure youre still breathing :D

To try and stimulate some debate, can I suggest that this might be of interest to authors of e-books?

Brussels opened a formal investigation into the sales of ebooks in Europe this morning to determine whether five publishers, with the help of Apple, had breached competition rules within the EU.

In a statement, the European Commission listed News Corp-owned, US-based Harper Collins; France-based Hachette Livre, which is owned by Lagardère Publishing; Pearson Group's Penguin in the UK; CBS-owned, US-based Simon & Schuster; and Germany-based Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holzbrinck, which owns, inter alia, Macmillan.

The opening of proceedings means that the Commission will treat the case as a matter of priority. It does not prejudge the outcome of the investigation.

The Commission will in particular investigate whether these publishing groups and Apple have engaged in illegal agreements or practices that would have the object or the effect of restricting competition in the EU or in the EEA [European Economic Area].

The Commission is also examining the character and terms of the agency agreements entered into by the above named five publishers and retailers for the sale of e-books. The Commission has concerns, that these practices may breach EU antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and restrictive business practices (Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union – TFEU).

Brussels said it was unable to give a deadline for when the investigation would be completed due to a number of factors, including the complexity of each case.

In March this year, the Commission surprised several premises of various companies that do business in the e-book publishing sector, by arriving unannounced to carry out inspections.

The EC said that the UK's Office of Fair Trading (OFT) had been investigating the matter in parallel with Brussels to probe whether business practices for the sale of e-books breached competition rules.

I doubt it will affect the USA much. Copyright, Trademarks and Patents do not seem to loom highly in the west.

It sounds like someone needs a great big hug.

*hugs*

 :rose:

You know, I wouldn't mind jumping into a few convos, but I am a little intimidated by ya'll. Guess I'm just not a social butterfly. But I do have to forewarn you that my spelling/typing skills SUCK

Hey free_fall....

I felt the same way seven years ago. *stops. thinks.* Holy shit....seven years ago?? No...wait....make that eight years ago (I had another name before this one).

People are nice here. Don't let anyone get the best of you...remember, this is the internet, not the real world. Getting angry at anyone on a computer is a waste of your energy. Names and faces have changed and I'm not here nearly as often as I was almost a damn decade ago, but from what I can see, it's still a great crowd.

Beware the Lit addiction. ;)

*nostalgia*

Thanks Trinique......I have been stopping in to read the stories for quite some time now, just never stoped in the forums.

I think you're just about the kindest, sweetest dirty old
man I know.

Then Let me welcome you to the AH. One of the better places on Lit. I would tell you about the good old days and the people who used to be here but that would become a novel really quick. Suffice to say there are still a core of good people here. Stick around and have fun,

Free_fall...listen to Tx. He knows what he's talking about. Even the GB isn't what it used to be, and that's really saying something, considering it's like a living, breathing wasteland.

*patting Tx on the shoulder in greeting*

Gods...please tell me there's coffee here this morning...

If not, then I can whip up a pot in short order.

I understand Tx, and thanks. I am more of a creeper, just read everyone elses posts and hid in the shadows. Seems to be safer that way. It's just that I see a call out to noobs all the time, and I thought I would pop up. Easier to protect my innocence that way ;)

Ditto about listening to Tx. He's one of the good guys.

Protect your innocence?

The masses will fall upon you and steal your perceived innocence away faster than you know. ;)
