Good morning (it is here) to my author comrades. I have a small question about the issue of writing about under age sex. I KNOW (I do) that this is prohibited in Lit, and I'm fine with that.
However, I'm writing a story which would benefit from one character describing stuff that happened to her as a child/young teen. The character is now in her late 30s. My question is, can I include material in the words of a mature character relating to sexual experiences (abuse in this case) as a child?
Technically speaking, I suppose it would be possible to get round the under-age ban by writing a whole story in which the mature character reviews their life and sexual experiences as a young person. But I'd be willing to bet that any such story would be rejected. Would a story in which a character refers to such an experience as a small component of a much wider story focussed on mature sex also be rejected for the same reason?
Many thanks, guys.
