Operations Fast & Furious

Fast and Furious SHOULD be Obama's Iran/Contra but it won't be because it's not getting coverage by the big media. If it were something other than guns it might or if it was a POTUS other than Obama it might but it's a topic 90% of the media is against involving a President that the majority of the media still likes so it will remain a side-show.

And even if it doesn't; how badly did Iran/Contra hurt the Regan Presidency? Not much at all.

Much as I'd like to see Holder hang for this - and he should - he won't. Worst case he winds up like Ollie North: fired and then getting a lucrative job in the private sector after he writes his book.

They Got Obamacare – Now They Want the 2nd Amendment


Insider:
Fast and Furious remains the most pressing concern at this moment for those inside the administration trying to contain the scandal. I assure you of that. They were all in on that program you know. The administration…the party leadership. It was attached to the arrogance they had after passage of Obamacare – they thought there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish. Nothing they couldn’t push through.


Ulsterman:
Elaborate on that please. What do you mean by arrogance? And what were they trying to accomplish?

Insider:
They got Obamacare – now they want the 2nd Amendment.

There were some who didn’t get it. Why go for gun control? Hell, the White House Chief of Staff (Rahm Emanuel) at the time didn’t want to go for Obamacare – he didn’t understand the push for that. Knew it would be a political liability – the economy needed to be dealt with.

That alone shows those calling the shots at the White House are removed from the normal…the historical divisions of power within the administration. All those fucking czars…the advisers…Jarrett. These people put in without any Congressional oversight – they are running the program. The media has danced around that story, but it gets buried. Ignored.


Ulsterman:
Focus on the gun control issue – you’ve mentioned that before. I recall that.

Insider:
You’re right...controlling healthcare and controlling guns – they were viewed as a package deal at about the same time it seems. Control how people live, how they die, and how they go about protecting themselves – that about sums it up.

Ulsterman:
Explain the gun control connection again – the Fast and Furious connection.

Insider:
Something being planned – directly connecting this Fast and Furious disaster and the Obama people – some in the party…an entire plan to initiate sweeping gun control legislation throughout the country. Now I didn’t know this until after the fact. Didn’t believe it at first. Seemed to…even for this group – seemed too damn far-reaching. You step back though – watch what is being done, see how the dots start connecting...

Ulsterman:
What are the dots being connected?

Insider:
Just look at what is being reported. It’s still just under the surface – but it’s there. You have people right now within the party taking this moment to once again push for gun control and using the scandal – Fast and Furious, using that to do so. They are saying these things openly. It’s astonishing to me. They are very confident – or very afraid. I think it’s fear that is now motivating them. When you have Feinstein coming right out and saying we need enhanced gun control because of Fast and Furious – days away from the Attorney General giving sworn testimony…something is up. Something big. She is attempting some serious damage control, trying to get out in front of the story.

Ulsterman:
Are Republicans aware of the Fast and Furious connection to attempted gun control by the Obama administration? Are they pursuing that – will they be pursuing that during the Congressional hearings coming up?

Insider:
Are they aware of it – yes. That much I know. For certain. Whether they plan to openly make it part of the public hearings…I don’t know.

Ulsterman:
Back to Fast and Furious…back to the hearings. Will they be the final straw to remove Eric Holder? Is this thing reaching its conclusion? You’ve been at this for nearly a year now. Forcing Holder out – “Obama’s firewall” as you call him.

Insider:
I certainly hope so. It’s been a hard run hasn’t it? Uphill the whole way it seems. But the last few months…recently…we’ve been doin’ – doin’ good. Real good on this. All of this…this thing. Holder is in a corner now. Question is…is Obama right there with him? They’ve had a while to prepare for Holder’s leaving. Gotta believe protections have been put in place. Whether or not they will be enough…too early to know.

Ulsterman:
But Attorney General Eric Holder is gone? He will be forced out? You are still certain of that at this point?

Insider:
Yes. No doubt whatsoever.

And I want to encourage you again to look at the gun control angle in all of this. It’s bigger than Fast and Furious. Imagine if Americans were made to know – to understand, how lives were spent in a purely political attempt to enhance federal gun control laws. And immigration is tied into it all as well. The scope of this plan requires a person to almost suspend reality – fucking reality for a moment. We had the feds placing deadly weapons into the hands of dangerous criminals. That’s the reality as we know it now. Those are the facts, right?

Ok – so those guns are given to these criminals who then turn around and use them to kill Americans, to kill Mexicans, to cause all kinds of chaos, right? The shops used to sell those guns – the government forced them to sell those guns, right?

Yeah – the government basically put a gun to those gun sellers’ head and told them to allow those criminals to purchase those weapons. Then they turn around and are prosecuting those gun sellers, while at the same time you got Democrats…some of the most extreme of Democrats – they are calling for gun control.

It’s the part about nobody in the administration trying to track those guns that were given to the criminals…that’s the key for me in this. They didn’t care about those guns, right? It seems pretty damn obvious they could care less where those guns were going…who had them, whatever. So what was the purpose of Fast and Furious if it wasn’t to track those guns back to the criminals and arrest them? What the fuck were they up to? You ask yourself that?

Ulsterman:
Yeah – and there still doesn’t seem to be an answer.

Insider:
Bullshit there isn’t an answer – it’s just that the answer is the most frightening one, so not enough people are willing to look at it. If the Obama administration wasn’t really concerned about the actual guns – they lost over a thousand or so, right? Can’t find them. No idea where they went. So those guns weren’t the concern. It was the crime they wanted to trace back to those guns that were sold in the United States....

It was the crimes they wanted to happen – they fucking encouraged to happen – that was the purpose of all of this.

Turn around and use those crimes to push through much tougher federal gun controls, and push through some kind of amnesty immigration policy. WE killed 200 Mexicans – that message…guilt voters into amnesty, right? And I’m not opposed to some immigration policy – it’s needed, and long overdue. But for God’s sake – I’m not for killing people to get there. This White House was willing to do that. This White House, the Obama administration – they were willing to kill Mexicans. But they made a mistake…the killing of the border agents – they didn’t prepare to have those killings linked to the weapons. Or if they did, they didn’t realize it would backfire against them like it did.

Ulsterman:
Will the hearings bring this information out? Will it hit the mainstream?

Insider:
We are trying to make that happen. Trying very hard. We need a Democrat to stand up and point a finger at this administration and call them out for this mess. All of it.

Ulsterman:
Will that happen? Do you have a Democrat willing to do that? To take on that risk?

Insider:
Yes. It’s a matter of timing – but yes…we do.
 
Until and unless someone with credibility openly steps up and says that, this remains the plot to a mediocre political thriller and in the realm of tinfoil.

Am I saying it didn't happen? No, I actually believe that's exactly what was going on but the average American isn't quite that cynical & so won't believe it without credible proof - and even then might not.

Grassley: Ex-U.S. attorney admits leaking Fast and Furious document


Former U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke in Arizona, who resigned in the wake of a congressional probe into the Fast and Furious undercover investigation his office oversaw, has admitted leaking a sensitive document about a federal agent who blew the whistle on the gunrunning operation, according to Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa Republican.

Mr. Grassley, in a statement late Tuesday, said the leaked document was “deemed so sensitive by the Justice Department that it was not provided to Congress, except in a secured room at department headquarters.”

“Leaking sensitive documents to the press and retaliating against whistleblowers is not good faith cooperation with Congress,” Mr. Grassley said.

The leak involved Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Agent John Dodson, one of several agents who testifed in June before a House committee that their ATF superiors told them to stand down and watch as weapons flowed from gun dealers in Arizona to criminals and violent drug cartels in Mexico as part of the Fast and Furious operation.

Agent Dodson told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that the operation facilitated the sale of more than 2,000 firearms, and while hundreds have been recovered, there could be more than 1,000 still out. Agent Dodson said that of those, two-thirds were likely in Mexico and the rest still in the U.S.

“The Justice Department confirmed that the Inspector General continues to investigate the leak, which means there are others who may be involved in drafting and distributing the talking points and document to the press,” Mr. Grassley said.

In August, Mr. Burke, who oversaw all federal prosecutions in Arizona, resigned while Assistant U.S. Attorney Emory Hurley, the lead prosecutor in the Fast and Furious investigation, was reassigned from the criminal division to the civil division. Kenneth E. Melson, ATF’s acting director, was reassigned the same day to a lesser role as senior adviser on forensic science.

The three Justice Department officials had come heavy criticism after Mr. Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican and chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, discovered that hundreds of weapons sold to straw buyers in the Fast and Furious operation had been “walked” to drug smugglers in Mexico.

At least two of those weapons, AK-47 assault rifles, turned up at the site of the fatal Dec. 14, 2010, shooting of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry, killed by Mexican bandits just north of Nogales, Ariz.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. announced the Burke resignation and the reassignments. The Fast and Furious operation has been disavowed by Mr. Holder and President Obama.

Mr. Burke’s Phoenix attorney, Lee Stein, said in a Nov. 8 letter to the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General — which was posted on Politico — that his client had provided information to a reporter who was working on several stories involving Fast and Furious. The attorney said “it was clear” to Mr. Burke from their conversations that the reporter already was aware of a memo about Agent Dodson and he wanted “to give context to information the reporter already had.”

The attorney wrote that because the memo’s topics involved closed investigations, it was not subject to any limitations on disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.

“Dennis regrets his role in disclosing the memo but he’s a stand-up guy and is willing to take responsibility for what he did,” the letter said. “It was absolutely not Dennis’s intent to retaliate against Special Agent Dodson or anyone else for the information they provided Congress.”

Mr. Stein said Mr. Burke has been “cooperating fully with the Department of Justice and with the Congress and will continue to do so.” It is unclear who else at Justice took part in sharing the memo with reporters. The Inspector General’s investigation into the leak was first reported by NPR in July.

The Inspector General’s Office and the department’s Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating the Fast and Furious operation, but it is not known when a final report might be made public.

Lest we forget...

Scottsdale, Ariz.- The Scottsdale International Auto Museum is filled with classic cars from Thunderbird convertibles to MGs with Pink Lady and T-Bird jackets hanging next to an Elvis statue near the back, but Saturday night the museum was turned into a place for people to celebrate the life of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry by supporting his family. Nearly 100 people showed their support by bidding on donated items to raise funds for his mother, Josephine Terry. The funds will be used by Josephine to attend hearings about her son’s death on Capitol Hill as the House Oversight Committee continues to dig into Operation Fast and Furious. If you aren’t familiar by now, Terry was murdered in the Arizona desert by illegal Mexican cartel bandits. Two of the guns used to kill him, were provided through the lethal Obama Justice Department Operation Fast and Furious.

The event was kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a beautiful rendition of the famous song “Hallelujah,” which brought tears to eyes of many in the audience.

Kris Jenkins, a friend of Brian’s, drove from Sierra Vista, Ariz. to attend the event. Like many members of the Terry family and close friends that night, she was wearing a navy blue baseball style t-shirt printed with the words “Agent Terry” on the back. Terry’s family flew all the way from Michigan to attend the event.

"I'm here to support the family, support the cause," Jenkins said.

Another woman, Joan Ponath, had been in a car accident just minutes before the event started, but refused to the hospital.

"I wouldn’t have missed this for the world," Ponath said.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu and former Congressman Tom Tancredo were also in attendance.

"The people of Arizona love you and will always remember Brian Terry," Brewer said. "Brian was a brave and faithful warrior."

Jay Dobyns, ATF Special Agent, American hero and best selling author of "No Angel," was the emcee of the night, and made the crowd laugh by changing outfits in between speakers, just like an awards show. Dobyns also toasted to Terry’s memory throughout the night straight from a big bottle of Jack Daniels.

Do you believe your transfer in January,2011 was in any way related to the Operation of the slaying of Agent Brian Terry? If so, why?

Breuer neatly lumped together Operation Fast and Furious with Operation Wide Receiver in a PR ploy.
Emails between senior Justice Department officials and investigators in the office of Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley show that congressional staffers leading the investigation into Operation Fast and Furious requested information about Operation Wide Receiver -- a Bush administration program - and other similar cases, more than a full month before the DOJ leaked information to selected media outlets on October 31.
That Halloween document dump from the DOJ seemed calculated to depict Grassley's investigation as partisan in nature.
Holder is scheduled to testify again in front of Issa's House Judiciary Committee on December 8. Meanwhile, Brian Terry's parents have hired attorneys and are considering filing a wrongful death suit against the U.S. government. The Fast and Furious scandal is not going away.
