Shhh, both of you, and suck.

No more religious talk, please? It's taking over a thread that it isn't meant for. If you want to talk about this, make a 'religious debate' thread.

Now to put the thread back on track...

What am I doing?

Book of Mark, New Testament.

7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. (7:9-10) "And he [Jesus] said unto them ... Ye reject the commandment of God ... For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death."
7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

He's asserting the Old Testament here. That's an important distinction. He held to the laws asserted in that book. Why do Christians now pretend that they do not?

Edited to Add:

Book of Romans:

1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Referring, directly, to the book of Deuteronomy of the Old Testament.

Book of Luke:

17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
17:32 Remember Lot's wife.

Quoting from the Old Testament once more on Lot, as I mentioned in one of my above posts.

Again, direct reference in the New Testament. Jesus speaks of the Old Testament laws.

Book of Hebrews:

10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I thought this was literotica not holy rollers . Com

Yes I know I'm going to hell... I'm driving the fucking bus.

The violence and wrath is in the book, both books, whether you wish to acknowledge it or not. Once again, I'm glad your interpretation of Christianity (if you are a Christian) is not a literal one.

This discussion is over. You're going to continue believing what you want, as will I. It is obvious that you can google verses without reading passages for context, so hats off to you.

Yet again someone bastardizing a good book and twisting the message to form meanings and inferences to suit there own adgenda.

You argued that they weren't in the book. I've showed them to you. I'm not interested in interpreting them in any which way because I've no stake in it. Your assertion, however, was that Christianity was not a violent faith.

I maintained that it was.

You asked for evidence.

I've given you quotes from both the Old and New Testaments that would support my assertion.

And, while I certainly made an oversight in my first post regarding the list of New Testament quotes, they were not difficult to obtain and my point remains. The New Testament, granted, is a far more peaceful book than the Old.

Jesus, at one point, speaks of "let he without the first sin cast the first stone" when he is brought a woman who has cheated on her husband. I believe, from memory now, this is from the Book of John.

Regardless, I -only- asserted that violence was inherent in the Faith. Your interpretation of the book is a healthier one than some, and again, I'm glad for that. However, that doesn't change the fact that the words are still there to be read and that mankind (with its innumerable variant of flaws) has and will be prone to read them differently than you.

The Christian Faith is responsible for some of the most tragic acts in human history. Most of them, not all, were directly perpetrated in the name of the faith itself. Does this make Christianity any different than most religions? No. Not at all. Infact, simply put, differences of faith and holy scripture have caused more heartache and agony than just about any bit of rhetoric on paper.

My argument, Seranova, was against your assertion that the Bible spoke in general tones of love and tolerance. It holds that warmth and behavior for a select few, condemns many (such as homosexuals), and is unapologetic in that fact.

thanks Nina, now i have a weapon as well, or a very uncomfortable dildo. I think i'll stick with the weapon and marshmallows :)

Besides. There are far too many around willing and able to help with the insertion part now.
