Fortunately, the pain isn't debilitating. Normally, it's very manageable; little more than a minor background presence. I usually don't need meds at all. But once in a while...well, I twist wrong, sneeze wrong, or do whatever and I'm down for a day or two. When that happens, the pain hurts like the proverbial mother...it's pain that will make you see colors.

However, pain does not have to physical to be chronic. Pain can take many forms as both of us know. It may sound strange, but I'm grateful my pain is physical and not emotional.

Tx, your hugs, gentle or otherwise will always be welcome...a much preferred medicine over the pills. And I can imagine a great many benefits of having your warm, beautiful, and delightfully soft body against mine. All therapeutic of course.

Good, I'm glad it's manageable. And I understand what you're saying about physical vs. emotional pain.

Loved what you said about hugs, that was very nice. Though when I read the part that I put in bold above, I was struck by a semi-related thought. Overwhelmed would be more accurate, but I do hate hyberbole.

Anyway your words created such a lovely image. I thought of hugging, touching, caressing... and holding hands.

It's funny how such a simple act of holding hands can convey so much. Well, I realized that I haven't held hands with anyone since 1999. My husband had only one functioning arm, and he needed it to use his cane. And in my "association" after we separated, holding hands was off-limits as well because he needed to be discreet.

Hmmmm... I didn't expect the mere thought of holding hands could have such a profound effect. Something else to look forward to.
