I was thinking of submitting a story I wrote for the halloween contest, when I just came across a thread that said that the following categories were not allowed.

NONHUMAN, GAY MALE, science fic and fantasy, nonerotic, Bdsm.

...First off, those are all GREAT categories for a halloween story, and also, the ones in all caps are basically THE ONLY CATS I'VE EVER SUBMITTED TO!

What the hell!!!!!!!!?

Do they have restrictions like this for all of the special contests? Or just all of the contests in general?

Can someone help? Because I really want to submit to some contests, but my favorite categories seem to be in dispute :(

I just email ya. Check out Ogg's thread and the sticky at the top of the thread. And others will probably stop by, too, and can add to what I said in my email. :)

An example of why Literotica should just erase Scouries' persona, including his stories. I don't think anything short of that would get his attention. He could come back, but it would take him or so much time to rebuild.

That was probably the thread by Scouries. He has no authority to tell anybody anything, and you can ignore him, the way most of us do. For any theme contest, you can enter a story in any category, although poems are not accepted as entries. They also don't accept a chapter of a novel, but those are the only limitations.

For the Halloween contest, a plurality of the entries are in the Erotic Horror category, but Non-human is good too, and so is Gay Male, because Halloween is a major holiday for GLBT people. I even had a Celebrity story one year, and it did well on the score, but didn't get enough votes to qualify. :(

You read a delusion of someone with nothing better to do than make up fake contests.

Chances are that wherever you saw the post you referenced (and scouries/GHP/etc has smeared that shit everywhere), there were lots of posts by people like Michchick98, TxRad, and Darkniciad pointing out his shit-smearing ways. I realize it's hard to know who's telling the truth in those threads when you're new (God knows I was totally confused about who the crazy parties were), but trust those three over Mr. Bandwidth Stealer.

Having to deal with scouries is one of the many problems with having an unmoderated forum. Best to use the ignore button.

Laurel's official contest post is in a sticky at the top of the forum. All categories are welcome.

The next time anybody tells me scouries is harmless, remember this thread :p

I get PMs and emails along these lines damn near every day. He copies just enough from rejection notices, official postings, and moderator notations to sound official, and people are led astray.

Despite that, I encourage everyone to completely ignore his fraudulent contest thread. Don't post in it. Don't even click it.

Instead, keep the real contest thread active, and on top of the forum. So long as the official thread stays on top, his is obviously a giant load of hokey. It's when the real thread is allowed to slip down toward the bottom that we have a problem.

I really don't want to be back-to-back posting all the time to keep the thread active. Throw out ideas. Talk about past contests. Whatever is in the spirit of supporting your fellow authors and encouraging everyone to participate in the contest.

That's the style, more and better competition. I worked on copy editing a new story by DG Hear, MFG, with a Halloween theme, probably headed for LW when the starting gun goes off. And I think SilkStockingsLover is working on an entry as well. I hope the other authors are gearing up.

I always get a thrill at the track when I see the horses parade round the paddock and head out to the track for the jog to the starting gate; it's when my hopes are the highest, right before my bet "goes down the nick", as our UK cousins say.

Oh for crying out loud! Sorry you were duped Cruel2BKind. Glad you spoke up and voiced your concerns. Best way to get answers around here. :)

Estragon: Geared up and two in the queue. ;)
