Ok, Litsters, I need some assistance if anyone can help me. I just landed a writing gig that involves doing some writing about tantra. I know jack shit about tantra, LOL.

I'm going to do some research on my own, of course, but I thought I'd check in with y'all to see if anyone knows anything about it. So if anyone has any information--personal experience, good websites to visit, anything like that--I'd be forever indebted to you if you'd hook me up.

Thanks!

I don't know about the spiritual part of it but I do know the practical part. It makes it possible to have sex for a very long time. We have fucked for 4, 5 maybe 6 hours. Through ,,,I believe he called it retrograde ejaculation he has a mental orgasm but does not ejaculate. In this way he is able to maintain an erection for hours. There will be different degrees of hardness, but all capable for sex.

It enables both of us to be multiorgasmic.

On a somewhat spiritual level it is an exchange of energies. We trade off on the giving of energy as opposed to accepting it.

I love it, i don't get tired though sometimes I do need a little lube after a while.

Check out this group over on fetlife.

There are 30 groups devoted to discussions on tantra over there, and I'll bet if you skim through some of them, you can find people who've put a lot of thought and practice into it.

In May of 2006 I ate dinner at a restaurant in Boston called Tantra. It was a long, slow meal. Does that count?

Sure, why not? :p

Thank you so much for your input. Do you ever use your tantric experience? knowledge? (not too sure which word to use here) in sexual situations other than with your dominant? Like with your husband or even during masturbation? I was curious about how it translates over various sexual encounters.

I was going to head over to FetLife after dinner, so thank you very much for giving me a good starting point there. The group search engine there could use a little tweaking...or I could learn to work with it better, one or the other.

Sting is said to be into tantra and tantra sex, but I've heard it was mostly a joke started by friend Bob Geldof. But it is interesting what he says about tantra sex, when asked.

From this link...
Sting is a famous proponent of tantric sex. I ask him to give the frustrated Guardian readers a few tips. He looks indignant and says it's about "a journey", not "fucking for eight hours". OK, I say. "I try to be lighthearted about it," he says, "but at the same time, there is some serious information about couples and how they can relate and sex is only a tiny proportion of it. It's about ritualising a period of the day with your partner; it can be looking at each other, touching each other, running a bath, a massage, deeper levels of connection. Sex is only the surface. Once you really connect, telling the truth, talking, all of that. Tantra is much too complex for me to discuss. But it's about reconnecting with the world of the spirit through everyday things. My church happens to be the person I live with. She is my connection to the sacred. I don't know how that's going to look in print."

This is a link to a tantra sex "how to" site.

Tantric has taught me to really enjoy my orgasms and to make them last, ride the waves so to speak. Instead of one big spike, I take that spike and use the energy from it to help my partner maintain his orgasm, which in turn he sends his energy to me. The result is orgasms that last on a plane just slightly lower then the usual peaks but still getting to the peak occasionally. I feel I experience the orgasm more this way.

I absolutely have used what I have learned during masturbation and to a certain extent with my husband, too.

You must teach me your wizard ways, master.

Thanks so much, everybody. The person I'm contracting with decided that a few other projects were a bigger priority than this one, but I'll be working on it in a few weeks. I'm glad it's going to give me a little more time to research. I appreciate y'all giving me some good starting points.

Tantra teaches us how to have valley orgasms and not to just peak and cum. delaying our ejaculation allows for much much longer sessions. a man that is an expert at tantra really never ejaculates.

Uhm, I'd hope that they're still able to. That would suck for one's fertility, not to mention the fun that comes with a good shot of cum :p

I think it's more a matter of they can if they want to, but they don't have to. I think.

Supposedly the multiple orgasms derived by not ejaculating, are more satisfying than your normal peak orgasm that cums when a guy cums. Now let me say I am no expert and will definatly cum when I orgasm. I like the idea for becoming more proficient at edging.

A man doesn't have to go tantric every time they have sex. It's a choice depending on how much time is available and his mood. Ejaculation is still very possible if he chooses it.

A decent place to begin searching may be how the East approaches philosophy/sprituality - Zen and whatnot. For me it all began with practicing meditation, a first step into the journey. It's my suspicion that philosophy/spirituality is where tantra developed since it is natural to flow beliefs into sexual behavior/acts. *pokes at anthropology?*

Much like an awakening to all of the human senses, energy release and transfer are the most difficult to master, but when it occurs it seems as if only the couple exists in time and space: a one. The mind is a key, and it takes practice. The entire human being is an erogenous zone and not limited to its physical members.

So... what does it look like? The whole stretching it out thing. I is just super slow and relaxed? I is it straining to hold it or what?

I'd say it looks much like the surf at the ocean. The waves which proceed are parallel to the climaxes, it builds, flows, ebbs - much like life itself: natural.

That's my pocket change opinion.

Oh, look into the Hindu angle if time allows. If memory serves properly, though, "they" (Kama Sutra) have issues with oral sex as being unclean and animalistic; beneath the nuance of human sexuality/spirituality.
