Alright, I write in Gay Male, but bear with me, because this applies to you too.

When I write my stories, the main character that I most often use is the 'bottom' or catcher. If you write straight stories, which do you prefer to write from? The man or the woman? And does your gender affect who you like to write from?

If you write gay or lesbian, do you write from the top/seme or bottom/uke? and does your gender or bedroom status have anything to do with your choice?

I'm a straight guy, but for whatever reason tend to do a lot of my writing form the female pov. I find that I am more comfortable writing sex form that perspective as well.

I can and have written from the male pov, but to me it is more erotic from the female pov.

For guys it's pretty much all about the cock and what she's doing to it. It can be spruced up, but men for the most part are more limited.

Women provide more options because they are more sensual and are aroused by a wider variety of things. A female sex scene lets you incorporate a lot more sensory perception and things other than just the physical act.

It's much more... fun, IMO, to put yourself in the bottom's mind. I do it even when I'm topping.:cattail:

I don't really have a preference.

My current story is about a woman who leaves adolescence attracted to the concepts of sexual dominance and submission, and the central conflict in the story is her trying to figure out which she prefers. It's written in first person, so I had to write scenes from her perspective in both roles.

I write from the perspective of the character I find most interesting, which can be either male or female. I find it's not a conscious choice; I come up with characters before I come up with a story, so the story can't be separated from the character that tells it, if that makes sense.

And does your gender affect who you like to write from?

As a woman, I kind of like writing from a male p.o.v., since men baffle me. But again, that's secondary to the character I find most interesting.

Obviously, in first person I have to write from the male POV. Otherwise, I try to write primarily from the POV of the main protag, who may be male or female, gay or straight. I sometimes switch the POV, but mostly I stay with the protag.

Top or bottom? Both. When my stories have a dominance and submission subtext, I generally write in both POVs, though usually the story's protagonist or primary POV character is the bottom.

As for myself... I tend to top and like most tops I find the mindset of the bottom to be the muse to my performance. It's not ALL about the bottom, but what I love most about dominance is tapping into that spring, so I think my orientation dovetails with my fondness for characters who either submit or are placed in a situation where they are forced to submit.

My gender probably influences my writing choices, but I don't think about it a lot. I love writing from the male POV because, quite frankly, I adore men. :D I think that has more to do with it than my gender. But like I said, I don't think about it. I write whatever character and story pops into my head.

Generally I write from the Top perspective. Im not sure why, it's just more comfortable for me I guess. Though at times I'll write from a 3rd party perspective, but thats usually 3 out of 5 stories.

Honestly I don't think a person's gender or preference has anything to do with it. I think it's a comfort zone thing, with some people who may be submissive writing from a dominant perspective or vice versa, just as dom for dom and sub for sub. Ultimately I think it's just a comfort thing.

I guess I switch around. I don't think about it that way; I just write the story and the sex scene happens as it happens.

I write most of my stories from the male pov. The simple reason is that it is easier for me to describe the thoughts and desires of a male. I occasionally write from the female pov; that occurs when the female is the main character of the story.

The choice of male or female pov has nothing to do with top/bottom, dom/sub, or anything else pertaining to notions of control. I try to tell a story that involves sex; the pov choice is simply a matter of whose voice better relates the story to the reader.

I write mostly from the woman's POV because I like the dreamy eyed look I get from women who read my stories.

I've never given it that much thought. I write in 3rd person mostly, so I switch back and forth between characters, and the sex just flows from there. In chapters 4 & 5, all sex is told from the male POV, and he is mostly dominant. In chapter 9, I switched back and forth between male and female POV, and they kind of switched back and forth between top and bottom.

I'm a straight (well, more or less) female and find it easier to write from the male POV. I have no idea why.

And I write from female. wanna collaborate and have story sex? I'm a switch so I'll let you call top or bottom.
