October 6!
I am sooo ready for hockey to start.![]()
I've soured on the NHL after the Thrashers left town and moved to Winnipeg. The former owners fucked up the franchise so badly that nobody wanted to buy them and keep the team in Atlanta.

Me too!!
It's amazing how each fall the excitement begins again, even thoug h most of our favorite teams will wind up with another lousy year. lol![]()
I used to like hockey, but I now find it kind of boring. They need to bring back more fighting like it had in the 70s and 80s, especially the bench clearing brawls of the 70s. Those were the days. I started to get bored with it last season. Now, I discovered rugby and I truly believe its the greatest sport ever invented.

Do you ever watch the older games on the NHL channel, they are so boring. No speed, very little hitting. I actually think the best hockey is the current variety.
It is that time of year, my Senators still have a chance.
They will now play in front of 750 straight sell out's in winterpeg. The whole hockey in the south thing was pretty goofy, the Thrashers were the second team to fail and move out of Atlanta...the Calgary Flames did it back in the day.
The Flames were profitable and drew very well, but they had no TV contract and their owner lost millions in real estate and had to unload them. Ted Turner originally owned the Thrashers and eventually sold them to a group of arrogant buffoons (some were his relatives) who alienated the fan base and destroyed the franchise. There are several hundred thousand people who moved here from the north. Youth hockey is huge. An NHL team can succeed in Atlanta, but we'll never get another shot.
And FYI: I'm pretty sure the Thrashers drew more fans than the Islanders last year. Shitty franchises don't draw.

Hmmmm. Location NE and Boston won the Cup.
Looks like a good season esp. with the balance in the East.
Too bad about the off-season tragedies though.
I think the game has become faster, and is just as exciting to watch as it's always been for me.
However, I do think there are too many teams, and miss the time when you would know about each player on every team you faced since you saw so much of each team during the year.
Let's go, Rangers!!![]()
