Gas stations are sold out of gas. The storm is projected to hit to our west. We live on an island. The only evacuation route is to head west into the storm. Why the fuck do so many people need gas? Where the fuck do they think they're gonna go? Do they think all the gas stations are going to blow away in the storm?

Dumbasses.

That should allow us to bathe, and have easy access to drinking water (we're on a well whose pump is powered by electricity). I'll need gas to cut up the trees that will probably close my driveway, preventing not only us from getting out, but emergency vehicles from getting in. The generator will also run the fridge and the freezer, keeping a few hundred dollars worth of food from spoiling. Also, diesel fuel for my backhoe to regrade the driveway and haul off the tons of wood that are likely to be in the way. So, yeah, buying gas sure is a dumbass thing to do. Unless, say, you believe in being prepared.

That's fine. Know what octane gas sold out first? The high test.

I doubt people run their generators with high octane gas.

But when at least two gas stations in two different towns are sold out of gas, I can guarantee there were plenty of dumbasses who had at least a half of tank of gas or more in their cars who decided to fill up.

We survived...twas not fun but we did it. Everything here including stove and water heater are electric. Some people have pumps to pump waater to house, not us so we were lucky to have at least water. Nothing like a cold shower at 4 am btw
