Can a story be removed?

I am embarrassed at the low score and lack of participation regarding one of my stories. Once submitted, can a story be removed by the author if he wants?

Sure -- just go to the submission page, and fill in the same title but follow it with the word "DELETE". Put a note about "Please delete this story" in both the story text and story note boxes. It should take as long to come down (roughly) as it did to get posted.

But please don't let it discourage you. There's a huge disparity for everyone between views, votes, comments, etc.

Thank you

Thanks much, I will do that. I guess it would be hard for a person not to be a little discouraged at such a dismal showing.

how bad can it be? don't be discouraged; if needs be, redo it and submit again; or just leave it up. :)

pretty bad I guess

I've already followed the directions and asked for it to be removed. So far, it has been read only 6,000 times with no comments and a score of 3.0............pretty bad. I don't think it's worth the time to try and redo it.
Thanks anyway though.

Thank you

Thanks,
I read your e-mail and thought it was right on target. I sent you an e-mail back explaining my plans for the story. I missed the technical errors. Thank you for pointing those out. Proof read as I do, I always seem to miss something.
I should submit my stories to the editors here, but I read from one writer who did that, they took 2 months to proof read and edit his material before submitting it. I know they're busy so I try to do it myself.
Thanks again.

It figures

Yup, it never fails. I asked that my story be removed and now I'm getting some feedback via e-mail from people who liked the story and are asking for more chapters.
It's still not enough to change my mind though.

Why don't you just finish the whole thing and then resubmit?

I think if you turn off the voting ability, the score will dissapear and no one will ever see it.

If it's not to late, I'd say just leave the story where it is, people may stumble across it some days and really like it.

I say, rewrite it and then repost it. Win-win for everyone. Don't get discouraged!

rewite

I had two previous stories that got a lot of attention. So much so, that I am in the process of rewriting the two and correcting some of the things that people didn't like about them. The original stories were always a, "work in progress" and there were several aspects that weren't thought through as well as they should have been. Even at that, for the most part, I got a lot of positive feedback. So for, the almost 30,000 readers that read the stories, I am hoping the rewrite will be more enjoyable.
If I continue to get more positive feedback from my current story, I may do a rewrite. It just seems a waste of time with only 6,000 people even interested enough to read it.
Thank you, all though, for your encouragement. I don't always have time to write, but I enjoy it when I do and will keep doing it.

Just for the record 6,000 views (which is 8,000 views now) and a 3 rating is not a total reader rejection. There are no slamming comments on the story (other than your own). Maybe a bit more realistic perspective and expectation is needed here?

It has gone up

Thanks,
The score has gone up in the last few hours. When I submitted my request to delete the story, the score was 2.83 and there were less than 5000 readers.
My last submission has almost 40,000 readers and the one before that almost 30,000. So, you can see why I was disappointed with the numbers I saw. Maybe I acted too hastily, but I still don't think it will be much of a loss by removing it.
I had purposely gone over the top with the professor's naivety and the cruelness of the girls because I had planned on subsequent chapters in which the professor would use his intellect to out smart the girls and give them their due in the end. I had thought I would get comments expressing hope that the professor would triumph. As it was, no one even cared enough to make any comments, at least the first 5,000 readers didn't.
I'm not pouting here or sulking that the story didn't do better and, if the request to delete wasn't already in, I would let the story stand. But the request is in and I'm sure the story will disappear in the next few days. At a later date I may try to revise it and resubmit, I still haven't decided yet.
Thanks for all the encouragement.

Apples and oranges, really. Two of your others are in a more-read category and the third was post two years ago.

Is Femdom more read?

I guess I didn't realize the Nonconsent catagory wasn't more read. When I submitted the story I was having a difficult time chosing between that and Femdom. Would I be better off if I do resubit with more chapters, to put it in Femdom?

Probably not, since we don't have a Femdom category. ;)

I'd suggest finishing writing it the way you want it, posting to whatever category seems the most appropriate, and not hyperventilating over the response.

funny

Funny, Jackie and Barb just got their own fan club.

Not sure I was hyperventilation, just trying to do my best at writing stories people will be interested in.

The last few comments have convinced me to continue with the story and resubmit.

Thanks to everyone here.

saved from deletion

I guess I never submitted the deletion of this story, it was still in, "pending" so I was able to cancel the retraction. I will let the story stand and start on future chapters soon.
Thanks again everyone.
