I thought it was going to snow here today at one point. Although it wasn't forecast, just rain was forecast, it had that icy feeling in the air...

So, where you are doesn't see snow then?

I have very little experience with varicose vein surgery, MOG67, so I'm afraid I'm no help. I've never had it done and when I was a nurse, that wasn't my field of nursing. All the best for the surgery and your recovery though.

All I know about vein surgery is that you get to wear super unfashionable stockings afterward!

yeah and thatsn something I'm not looking forward to. That and having my legs shaved

*nods* Those things are a bitch to put on. Actually, they're almost impossible to get on by oneself.

I expect the nurse will put them on for me.

Enjoying the balmy weather up there? It's absolutely freezing down here. The wind has shifted and is now coming from the Antarctic, bringing snow.
Usually, I look forward to winter here (cuddling in front of the fire with bourbon and a good book) but this year it has hit with force, and as the no1son gave me a cracker of a cold, I am shivering miserably and wishing that 4 hours had gone by so I can take some more of the little pink pills that allow me to breath and fly at the same time!

I find I can't live too far from the ocean; though it has its drawbacks when the wind and tides combine forces (as WQ will attest)! Nature can be rough and nasty at times.

where I am now, is a little way inland on top of a hill.
The ocean is 19km north of me and the estuary is 9km to the east.
But being tas, in reality we are surrounded by water.
Rain this morning, occesionally changing to sleet.
Temp now is -2 outside the front door.

I have no idea if it's NEVER snowed in Melbourne, but they definitely don't routinely get snow. There's not that many parts of Australia that do, really.

Yes, nurse. But not for at least six years, so it's all trickling out of my memory. And I'm doing fine, thanks.

Actually, I wasn't talking about in the hospital. I imagine the nurse will put them on for you in the ward. I was more thinking about once you're home. I don't know if the doctor will want you to wear them for any period of time once you've been discharged and if so, they may need to organise someone to help you, like community nurses of something. *shrugs* Dunno. Wish I had some useful experience I could draw on.

At 9am we were only a bit warmer than you. I'd dropped the kids at school and heard the cheery news that it was 3 deg. We're going for a max of 8 today. BUT, the sun is shining today, which makes such a difference, even if it has no warmth.

the cloud cover is so low, from the front porch i am looking straight at the underside of the clouds.
apparently, we will make it all the way to 5C by early afternoon.

He's had his rabies shots and is probaly "OK" ... except he neglected to hop the ditch to visit us when in Oz for SIX weeks!

OK, so you drank some wine, saw a desert, caught a fish, hugged a koala, drank some wine, boxed a roo, drank some wine .... yeah? So what'd you do after breakfast then ? You had 41 days to visit NZ. Hmmm, Immigration ... the No Munky Policy.

PS Aussie women - don't get too friendly with him (it'll only encourage him and he's not yet fully house-trained ).

know the first day had rain , sunny, sleet, cold then warm, sure kept you awake !

Just got back from the doc.
Normally, for a cold, I wouldn't bother going - but in the last 24 hours some disturbing things have happened, not least of which every gland in my body is the size of a golf ball.
Turns out I am in the early stages of liver failure, to be confirmed with the multiple blood tests ordered today.
But the signs are there, liver tenderness and extremely dark urine as well as the glands.
He's got me on watch, and if any one of a list of symptoms happen within the next day or two, I am to call an ambulance and go straight to the hospital.

I feel run down and out-of-sorts, but I certainly did not think anything like this!
At most, I figured I had a secondary bacterial infection.
I have a followup visit on friday to get the results.

On sunday, I am supposed to be catching the ferry to Melbourne before driving to Kangaroo Island. I guess now I just have to wait and see what happens.

I'm at home, but I have the nearly 19yr old son to keep an eye on me. This is the same kid, mind you, that got me sick in the first place!
