What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

No, you have to prove how the situation got worse because of these programs. If the worst you can proove is net zero then yeah that might be a good reason to cut the program but your point is proving it's harmful.

No, our poor have it better because we take care of them. Capitalism doesn't raise all boats unless it's forced to. That's just the way that it is. And these forced seeking to destroy capitalism are just in your head. They aren't real, they are some freaks that even the left kicks in the face when they get the chance.

The programs made it worse because they soak up private capital and put a brake on wealth creation and begin to reverse the tide, as you keep pointing out, it got worse for unions and the middle-class and it wasn't at the benefit of the poor, now was it? You even state that that is a constant. Eventually their lot regresses too.

That second paragraph is just wrong from beginning to end. Without Capitalism, there would be little wealth creation, the ruling oligarchy would have it made and the rest of us would be out in the fields fighting for our meals, getting our backs into our living...

Education would be an unaffordable luxury in the scramble to to find enough beetles and bark to fill your belly, witness the People's Paradise of North Korea, or Haiti...

The highlighted shows your complete disconnect with reality. Your "ogliarchy" at present are the top 1%, corporations, etc.. who bring in a staggering amount of wealth compared to most of the rest of the country, who are, almost literally scrambling to make ends meet.

Education for many already IS an unaffordable luxury for many, oddly enough many of those who are least able to afford that education downplay it's usefulness and berate those that are able to afford an education as "elitist snobs". Anti-intellectualism and anti-higher education runs rampant among those on the "right". My guess is because it's much easier for them to wilfully misinform an uneducated public than those who have spent any time at all getting an education after high school.

You continue to defend that top 1%, corporations, etc.. as having the rest of the country's best interests at heart despite all evidence to the contrary. Conservatives continue to bow and scrape to the wealthy and penalize the rest of the population in their attempts to appease those who continue to finance their rise to power and prestige.

We all must sacrifice.. Health care reform, unemployment insurance, medicare, medicade, Social Security.. Any and all social programs designed to ensure the health and happiness of our population are on the chopping block. But Gods forbid you ask the top 1%, corporations, etc.. to sacrifice anything for the good of the country as a whole. It's positively unthinkable that they should for a moment be asked to give up anything while it's perfectly acceptable for those "parasites" beneath them be asked to give up anything and everything.

The main reason being that the uneducated masses have been sold a pig in a poke for the most part. They all have been lead to believe that one day they will without a doubt be a member of that top 1%, even though 99% of them will NEVER make it. They will defend that privileged class to the bitter end, never losing hope that One day, their ship is going to come in...

the Washington Post

The federal government’s largest housing construction program for the poor has squandered hundreds of millions of dollars on stalled or abandoned projects and routinely failed to crack down on derelict developers or the local housing agencies that funded them.

Nationwide, nearly 700 projects awarded $400 million have been idling for years, a Washington Post investigation found. Some have languished for a decade or longer even as much of the country struggles with record-high foreclosures and a dramatic loss of affordable housing.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which oversees the nation’s housing fund, has largely looked the other way: It does not track the pace of construction and often fails to spot defunct deals, instead trusting local agencies to police projects.

The result is a trail of failed developments in every corner of the country. Fields where apartment complexes were promised are empty and neglected. Houses that were supposed to be renovated are boarded up and crumbling, eyesores in decaying neighborhoods.

In Inglewood, Calif., a sprawling, overgrown lot two blocks from city hall frustrates senior citizens who were promised a state-of-the-art housing complex more than four years ago. Although the city invested $2 million in HUD funds, the developer doesn’t have the financing to move forward.

In Newark, two partially completed duplexes sit empty in a neighborhood blighted by boarded-up homes lost to foreclosure. The city paid nearly $400,000 to build the houses, but after a decade of delays, the developer folded and never finished. The money has not been repaid.

CHANGE: Shadow Stat Misery Index Highest on Record. “John Williams, over at Shadow Stats, compiles economic data for inflation and unemployment the way it used to be calculated pre-1990. Based on that data, the CPI inflation rate is over 10%, and the unemployment rate is over 15% (see charts). The Misery Index is the sum of the current inflation rate and the unemployment rate. If it were to be calculated using the older methods, the Index would now be over 25, a record high. It surpasses the old index high of 21.98, which occurred in June 1980, when Jimmy Carter was president.” Well, it’s a good thing we changed the way we calculate it, then! Whew, that was close!

Stocks tumble on recovery fears

Housing starts fell sharply in April. Hewlett-Packard slips on lowered guidance. Wal-Mart posts a profit, but US sales remain weak. Industrial production remained unchanged in April.

The Dow being down half a percent while the NASDAQ rose slightly is your tumble?

Fuckkin hell, THIS is what passes for right-wing doom and gloom these days? You guys really have nothing, do you? No ideas, no more oomph to demonize gays/Mexicans/Russians/health care/[insert whatever you want to demonize today], no presidential candidates. Even your lying bullshit quest for your crusty male politicians to redefine rape is going nowhere.

Really you peaked with your birther bullshit which never, EVER mattered in the first place.

Just go home and start picking which one of you is going to run after president Clinton finishes her eight year term.

No matter how you look at it, your democrats have caused major persistant problems in the economy. Vote them out, they can't lead effectively.

Baseless, cliche, unfounded bullshit. Meaninless post to anyone outside of Limbaugh's audience.

Excuse me? are you not seeing how many people are unemployed? How many people are now getting government aide due to obama and his regime? Talk about bullshit, stop living the fantasy

All these budget problems have nothing to do with “revenue” this is purely an issue of government waste.

One simple solution but If we only had a true leader (and not government fuc&tards in office), a true leader like chainsaw Al would kill the pension system and allow people to only pull money out that they put in with out interest. don’t worry, the government workers can pull money out of social security, oh wait, didn’t government leaders all ready bankrupt that system?

summary: government must 86 the pension system

You completely missed the point. As usual you hear only what you want to hear.

Really? Because Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich, Saraha Palin, Romney, and most rational people on either side of the aisle say that budgetary issues can't be solved by just trimming waste.

Yet here you are, baseless, sourceless, spamming your boring old shit like always.

Yep, things look great

Sears posts 1Q loss; Kmart, Sears sales weak

What's up with Wal-Mart's US sales slump?

again, you are not able to think outside of the box.

1. do you think there is wasteful spending in Gov?
2. do you think there are duplicate personal?
3. do you think there is too much administration or redundant?
4. Why can’t government do “it” faster, better, and less expensive?
5. why do you accept excuses?

You completely missed the point. As usual you hear only what you want to hear.

Please. The point is that you wing nuts think we should have higher taxes. Why? Just for the sake of higher taxes? Because other counties like France have higher taxes, therefore America should have higher taxes?

Why can’t the ignorant and stupid trolls look towards ways to reduce costs? Reduce unneeded people, and shutting down wasteful non value added government programs/depts.?

cuz obama says we need more tades, right?
