Democrats Oppose Animal Mascots.

Oxford theologian is a democrat? I see where your problem is. You need a new piece of tinfoil for your hat.

Some of the "acedemics" being cited are Americans, and they tend to be liberals, although there is nothing political about what they said or the article. I'm not at all sure this isn't from The Onion or similar source,m because this is the kind of thing they print.

I think a difference should be recognized between "pets" and "companion animals." The former are kitties and bunnies and doggies who are petted, etc. but contribute nothing tangible to the relationship. The latter are saddle horses and seeing-eye dogs and other animals who do contribute.

I don't know about your "pet" but mine contributes to the relationship. I pet her and she gives me her undying love and devotion. She also cleans the plates and licks the crumbs up off the floor.

Yes, of course they do those things, but I am referring to more tangible contributions, such as the ones I mentioned.

When you pick an arguement and see you are losing it, insult your opponent.

What opponent? Just Boxlicker, doing his usual boneheaded partisan silliness. You have no foundation upon which to construct anything that could be called an arguEment (sic).

"It's a professor; must be a liberal Democrat." What a crock of shit.

As has already been noted, the organization in this article is in Oxford, England. This has nothing to do with the Democrats. JBJ understands that and slugged it that way just to get a rise. You, however, are too stupid to know that he knew it had nothing to do with the Democrats.

The Democrats all think, YES!

So I simply express the sentiments of the Silent Majority. Like Babe Ruth at bat, pointing to the left field cheap seats.

Ah, "cheap seats." I was thinking of your posting technique here, so I read that as "cheap shots." :D

Yes, I'm very much aware of the simpleton stupidity of the "Silent Majority." I think Boxlicker is their poster child.

The journal being cited is published jointly by Oxford and the University of IL, and Pricilla Cohn, a co-editor, is from Penn State. Not all professors are liberals or Dems. but, as I said, most of them are.

As I said, when you know you are wrong, just insult your opponent. :(

ETA: Babe Ruth's "called shot" home run was hit to center field in Wrigley Field, Chicago.

But the image sticks to Democrats NOT to the GOP. Political Correctness for animals is an idea made for Democrats.

The organization behind this is based in Oxford, England, and represents academics from ten different countries. The one (count them, one) American the article cites is a vice-chairman of that England-based organization.

This has nothing to do with the Democrats in the United States.

You are both a silly and stupid little Swift Boater.

Ah, but they do.

Canine: They alert you when someone is at the door or sneaking around the house. Just because that someone happens to be an opossum shouldn't count against them. They also protect their children if big enough. They are territorial and therefore will attempt to keep those who don't belong out.

If a feline they will keep you home free of mice, rats and other crawly things.

Tangible enough?

My cats absolutely refuse to touch jerusalem crickets damn them. They come to tell me when one gets in the house.

(I offer a lnk instead of an image, knowing that some of us have phobias about big and really ugly bugs; )

When these guys crawl across a wooden floor-- you can HEAR it.

Yes, I did a doubletake in seeing that cats are supposed to catch rats, mice, and crawly things. obviously not Siamese cats, in my experience.

No, Siamese have loftier, more numinous duties than do the lesser breeds. ;)

Sounds like a BDSM relationship I was involved in years ago. Unfortunately I was the one licking the crumbs off the floor.

To me Cats are a bit useless. I am a dog person. My wife has cats and I stress they are hers. I swear because they know I don't like them they constantly rub up on me but ignore her.

To me a dog is better for this reason: If someone were to break into my house and try to hurt my family my dog will defend us to it's dying breath.

A cat will rub up on the intruders leg in hopes that he knows where the cat food is kept.
